Question about Sony Boom Box With CD Player & Cassette Recorder,CFD-S01CD Radio/Cassette/CD Boombox
With cover open, safety switch held down, I see:
The CD spindle does not rotate under power; but it also ceases to be able to be free spun by hand.
The red laser comes on okay.
The lens moves up & down trying to focus okay.
I read .013 ohms across both th spindle & laser drive motors.
There are no fuses that are obvious.
what i would suggest you to do is get a q-tip and a little bit of rubbing alcohol on the tip and gently clean the lens let it dry

Sounds like a motor issue, not a laser issue.
That link is for a new snake motor which moves the laser back and forth
This link is for a new spindle motor.

You will need to use the Forward and Reverse buttons on the CD player. Set the station by holding the button you want to set it to until it blinks and shows the station number.
To set more that 10 stations. Press the (>10) button and then enter 11 or 12 or so on and set the stations the same as above.

SOURCE: dvd rom in ps3 not reading
first of all its a blu ray drive. And sorry to say your probably out of luck, blu ray drives in ps3's ****, they are the cheapest blu ray drive on the market and they wear out fast. I think sony fixes them for 160$ without warrenty, if u do have warrenty just send it in. Hope this helps.
joel 098 (also have busted ps3)
