Hi. My Magnum Omegaforce has a hum which comes from the speaker, but only when I plug the mic in. If I put the mic down there's no hum. If I pick up the mic or put my hand near it the hum begins. This is the original magnum mic and it's definitely wired correctly. Any ideas? Also, the channel change on the radio skips (the same problem that occurs on some Lincolns & 2830's). Would this just require a clean in the same way as a Lincoln in order to remedy the problem? Thanks.

Sound like the radio is looking for a ground. I would tell you to take it to a good CB Shop, not all shops work on this radio so be careful and ask them first. But you're touching it or almost touching it is giving it a "False Ground" causing it to hum.

Wiring a mic

The Delta Force and Omega Force are wired the same way, so if the mic is not working on the radio, check the mic out to make sure it's working. Make sure you have the mic gain turned up on the radio. I assume the mic was not wired for another style of radio??
