my garmin 405 won't turn on

  • jiskra Nov 01, 2008

New Garmin. Charged for three hours - twice. Tried a hard reset. When I charge it I get the bar which indicates alternatively that 0% has been charged and that 100% complete. When I take the charger off - nothing.

I have exactly the same problem. Tried charging for over 3 hours, shows 100% then when I remove from power, screen goes blank or has a black line accross. Tried re-set but it does not work.

I have just purchased a garmin 405 and have charged it to 100% but as soon as I take it off charge the screen goes blank and I cant start it. When I put the Garmin back on charge it starts charging from 0% again? Help!

SOURCE: turn off garmin

You need to check your settings. The GPS should only be active when the watch is in timer mode. Once the timer is stopped it is designed to go into time mode after a set period. Once in time mode the battery should last at least 2 weeks (you should be getting about 8 hours of training time). It might be that your unit is faulty.

My Garmin Forerunner 405 is completely locked up.

In regards to the locked up Garmin: Press and hold BOTH side buttons at the same time until the unit goes blank. Once released, it should be reset...... This should not remove any history or settings.

GPS problems wit a Garmin Forerunner 405

The instructions say touch and hold GPS and to go outside away from tall buildings and to remain stationary for several minutes. Not really sure what their definition of several minutes is guess thats their way of saying "sit still for as long as it takes." If that doesnt work I would get in touch with Garmin. 1-800-800-1020

Garmin Forerunner 405 always shows wrong time/date

Turn on the GPS. The forerunner will automatically sync time and date. Make sure the DST is switched to auto. I had the same problem and researched for the answer....which led me here. Turning on my GPS sync'd time and date for me. I hope this helps
