06 Kia Sedona overheats when ac is on. If the ac is off the van will return to normal temps. Had the compressor just replaced and v-belt. Both fans appear to be running when ac is on.

Does the engine over heat or the gauge goes to hot. Really hot. Since the A/C is on , this puts an extra load on the engine. This is why the fans come on when the A/C is turned on. This is usually low speed fan mode. High speed doesn't come on untilll 220 to 230 degrees. Most vehicles. Cars don't over heat untill the gauge gets in the red, when it starts getting close is time to worry and stop. I guess the question to you would be, What does the temp gauge read?

Your Kia has a serpentine belt. Make sure it is run correctly around the pulleys and make sure it isn't hanging off the pulleys somewhere rubbing somewhere.

you can try to use a belt for a Sedona that came without A/C. they don't make a bypass pulley.

2003 kia sedona ex heat not working

If the engine temp rise while sitting at lights then you have an air flow through radiator problem. Electric fans not working or viscous fan hub is faulty. high heat except at speed may indicate an air lock in the cooling system or coolant level in the radiator. Check at radiator cap not the reservoir.

Why does the 2005kia sedona ac cycle on off?

If your talking about the compressor, then it is normal. All modern auto A/C systems will cycle instead of running all the time as a means of conserving fuel.

timing belt set set wrong firing to early.this a classic case of timing gone wrong.even one notch out will result in a badly running engine.bring it back and get it retimed on the belt/chain.adrian

Hi,
The first place I would check would be to make sure the electric fans are running.

Instructions on changing a a/c compressor on a 2003 kia sedona mini van

You'll need to loosen the belt tensioner. Unbolt the 2 lines going to the compressor, unplug the electrical connector at the compressor. Remove the 4 bolts holding the compressor to the engine, and remove compressor from the underneath of the car.
