Question about AT&T 5830 Telephone

We have the att 1070 in our small office, all is great except the speakerphone which cuts in and out making it unusable. We replaced it with another 1070 thinking it was just a problem with the first phone however our second phone has the same problem. Has anyone heard of this being a common problem with this model and is there any help?

    The speaker phone does not work on any of the three 1070s we have. We can hear the other party, but they can't hear us. I called ATT tech support today and they are supposed to call me back tomorrow. I hope something can be done. I don't want to have to buy new phones.

    March 6, 2009 We have the same speaker phone problem with ATT Model 1070. What solution did the service techs provide? I am having a hard time getting to a live person. Thanks

    The speaker phone does not work on the ATT MODEL 1070 I have. I can hear the other party, but they can't hear us. I'll call ATT tech support tomorrow.

    I have the exact same problem. would be curious if anyone has made progress with AT&T on this, or I should just bring the phone back to Staples for a different model (I'm thinking maybe not an AT&T this time).

    I have the same issue on two AT&T 1070 phones. The only way I have resolved the issue temporarily is to unplug the power to the phone and "reset all". then you get one good call via speakerphone. Any calls made subsequently, I can hear the person I'm calling, but they only hear a garbled version of me. I have tried AT&T support and they go through all the l ikely suspects which isn't the problem and said they'd call me back. and they haven't. Anyone have any luck with AT&T on a fix for this issue?

Try assigning extension numbers to your phones that are as far apart as possible. Not sure if this will work. Testing it on my phone. Think maybe - especially on intercom problems. The extensions are no doubt frequency assignments and may be interfering with each other - or something else in your nearby systems

We have struggled with this issue in our office for quite a while. Removing the battery and leaving it out for five to ten minutes and then reassembling seems to solve the problem for quite a while. Good luck!!

Display shows line in use after installing batteries but phone is not plugged into wall

Phones show "in use" when the line voltage is low because another set is off-hook, which also happens when the line is unplugged. In other words, that is normal.

What happens when you do plug in the line? If it still shows in use then, the jack might be wired with reversed polarity. Try it elsewhere - someone else's house/office where the phones work "normally" to see what it does.

My phone has no dial tone and just beeps 3 times when I push any button. I tried it in several phone jacks and Verizon says my phone service is working on their side. I have the ATT 1070 small business...

Try reversing the tip and ring at the jack and see if that solves the problem. It sounds like the polarity is reversed at the jack. just a first thought.
