Can't Turn Computer On

My computer won't turn on. When I plug it in, the blue light in front comes on showing that it's getting power, but that's all that it will do.

I tried that and it didn't work...

What actually happened, if it helps in finding a solution is that it stopped charging at all, and eventually turned off. I noticed that the AC Adapter light wasn't on, so I figured that it must have died. I bought a new one, which appears to be working and like I said, with the new one the blue (battery charging) light is on, but I still get no response from the computer.

I understand that your Notebook is not turning on.

That's unfortunate.

However, try to perform the following steps.

= Power Drain =

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and Battery.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

If the issue persists, I am afraid that you need to repair your Notebook.

Thanks

  • Hello

To isolate the issue please perform battery health check and try to charge the battery using any other AC adapter.

Here are the steps to perform Battery health check.

Click start and select All programs and select Help and Support.

Then select HP Troubleshooting Tools and select Battery health check. Please make sure that the AC adapter is connected to the Notebook.

If the test result is Pass. Then Clean the battery connectors with the soft cloth and reconnect it.

    Best of Luck.

    Thanks

The first thing to do is check that the charger is putting out the correct voltage, which should be ~18 volt. Then try to start it without the battery.
If your voltage is OK and the battery out makes no difference, then I would suspect that you have a motherboard problem that must be fixed. If the computer starts up if you wiggle the DC plug where it goes into the computer, then it's the DC jack that is looks and must be re-soldered.

My computer wont boot up the fan and light turn on for a second then goes right off....

With the little bit of information presented, it appears that this is possible a power supply problem. One thing you can try is to unplug the power adapter from the laptop, remove the battery, then plug the power adapter back into the laptop. Then try to turn it on. If everything comes up normally, then the problem points, potentially, to the battery.
Hope this helps!

I think this might be a battery issue, if you can get a hold of another battery try swapping them and see what happens.

My computer screen wont turn on the power is on

Sounds like either the ram may be bad or the video card is bad.Plug in an external monitor and see if it shows. If it does that will eliminate the video card being bad.If it does'nt show, the video card is most likely bad.A bad ram stick can cause it also. You could make sure the display is plugged in securely on the motherboard too.Good luck!
