Laptops are so integrated that usually a system failure that involves power issues such as in your case where you cant get it turn on with anything on the screen mean the mainboard (motherboard) is damaged. Have you checkled your ram?Sometimes computers will not start if the ram is bad.If you check this out and your ram is good try removing the battery and starting with ac power only.If this works your battery is dead.If none of this works ...Take your pc to certified repair shop and have them run diagnostics on it.

Red battery light means battery is charging. It should start up even if battery is low. Try pressing on the area above and to the right of the power button, while you are pressing the actual power button.

Try also taking out the hard drive and the dvd drive to make sure that they aren't shorting out the motherboard.

Also try another stick of memory besides the one that came with your laptop to be sure the memory isn't bad.

If after you do these steps you still can't get video then your motherboard is bad.
