Getting F dl error on Whirlpool Duet HT

Cannot seem to get it to reset, and saw that you had a solution on here. Can't find the actual solution though. Can you re-post it?

Thanks

jsrock516, thanks. Those instructions were very easy to follow. I ordered the part and just replaced it, no problem. However, the washer still won't work - same error F dl. I checked all wire connections, and also gave it 30 minutes unplugged after the installation of the door latch, but nothing's working. Any other ideas?

I unplugged for two hours and nothing but 24 hours and it worked.

"Fdl" is normally cause by a failure of the door latch assembly. However, before assuming you have a bad door latch, the manufacturer recommends you unplug the washer for 30 minutes to reset the computer. If the error still persists, here's a link that provides all the instructions necessary to replace the latch:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587965-door_latch_replacement_fdl_error

Searspartsdirect.com carries the replacment latch you need. Just type in your complete model number and look under the listings on the next page. There should be a link for door latch parts. Repairclinic.com also carries to part, sometimes for less. I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Okay...I hate it when that happens. Here's what we're down to. You've either purchased a defective door latch, you have a defective cable connector, or the Central Control Unit (CCU) is defective. I was hoping the door latch would have fixed the problem for you as this is the most common failure. Normally, if the CCU fails, an F11 error would also be generated. Here's what you need to do to verify:

    1. Inspect the wire harness at BOTH ends to ensure you don't have any connectivity issues. Look for any frayed or broken wires along the cable run. The cables are generally installed well by the manufacturer, but I have seen cases where the cables come loose and begin to chaff, or break.

    2. Next, remove the top panel of the washer by removing the three screws that hold the panel in place inthe rear. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then off. Locate the CCU, directly behind, and slightly above the wash tub. This is the Main Computer for the washer. There two connector plug leading from the CCU that control the door latch functions. They are as follows:

Plug 6: Door Lock/Unlock Solenoid (3-wire connector, 5th from the Right along the front of the CCU) - Readings across the Lock and Unlock solenoid test points should be 60 ohms. Unlock is Pins 2 & 3, Lock is Pins 1 & 3.

Plug 8: Door Lock Main Switch (4-wire connector, 3rd from the Right along the front of the CCU) - Readings across test points 1& 2, and 4&5 should read 0 ohms with the door in the LOCKED position. You will need to close the door and press the START button the lock the door. If the CCU works you should get 0 ohms at the test points mentioned.

NOTE: Checks are to be made on the board, NOT the plugs. Pins should be number from L to R. Perform end to end continuity checks on the cables by disconnecting the plugs at either end. Make sure the washer is UNPLUGGED when you do this.

If you do not get the appropriate readings at the CCU, I'm afraid you have a failed board. This is not common for this error code. If the readings are good, and you're sure all the wiring is good, you may have purchased a defective door latch.

I hope this helps you. Sorry that our original efforts didn't give you a quick fix. If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know.

I tried to clear the ccu error code by unplugging for 30 minutes several times and it did not work. Next I started jsrock516 troubling shooting but was a little confused by his note (checks are to be made on the board, not the plugs). For plug 6, 3 wire connector, 5th from right along front of ccu I disconnected the plug. Then measured the ohms at the disconnected plug what and it read 120 for pins 1 and 3 and 60 for pins 2 and 3.
Next I unplugged plug 6, door lock/unlock solenoid (3 wire connector, 5th from right along front of ccu). This is where the confusion came in with the note. Not wanting to check anything at the ccu with it energized I decided to just plug in both connectors and try the machine. Well this cleared the error code and the machine now works fine. Give it a try it's a quick and easy task if unplugging for 30 minutes does not clear the error code.

Dl on screencliccking noise from behind washer won't run

That is the solenoid clicking. dl is a door lock error, and you can test and replace the door lock switch, but I am doubtful that will correct the problem. I really hope it does, but I have seen the dl code with the solenoid clicking at the rear of the(Whirlpool Duet) washer before and it was a faulty control board. I hope I am wrong, but... You can try unplugging and resetting the washer. In the case I saw, the machine would reset, but gradually got to a point that it had to be reset numerous times. (too many). Anyway, I hope I am wrong and best wishes. (Don't forget to test the door lock switch. Use a multimeter and check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty switch. Hope this helped.

F dL symbol on Whirlpool duet HT

It is saying there is a problem with your door Lock. when you close the door does it hold like it use too? try to open and close the door if it doesn't really close properly then you will just need a door latch. If the machine gives you an f11 code then its the main computer board that can also give your the door lock error. I would check the door first though.
