Your receiver has a tape player? Audio tape or VHS?

Either way, tapes are easily removed if you can take the top cover off and observe the mechanism inside. It'll usually be caught in one of the rubber rollers.

If you want to keep the tape, carefully try and unbind it. If you don't care, cut the tape and pull it all out!

My Panasonic VHS Player Model PV-V4020 is locked up so I cannot insert a new tape.

This will be some form of physical damage to the carriage mechanism, that holds the tape. Sometimes it's a simple thing like the flap getting stuck. But often it's a broken piece of plastic.

How do you get a tape out that is stuck

Probalby the only way to get stucked tape out of a player is in pieces. Then repair the cassette and clean your player. If it keep stcking tapes, dispose it.
By the way, cassette tapes an players are rather obsoleteby now. Any digital source is better quality the a cassette.

Do you know why the tape was stuck? How did you get it out? On most vcr's there's a mode switch connected to the mechanics of the vcr. If the mode switch isn't in stop position, the unit will try to get it there and shut off if it can't. Bad belts, bad idler wheel, dirty mode switch, mechanical timing off (maybe due to forcing a stuck tape out?)... all these can cause this.

Video tape stuck

Unplug the VCR, take the cover off, find the motor (probably on the right side of the mechanism) and turn its shaft with your fingers until you have run the tape back out. Now plug it back in and try it again with a scarificial tape. If it continues to fail, replace all the rubber belts in the mechanism.
Hope ya fix it!
