Question about Projection Televisions

3 Answers

I have a 42" Panasonic plasma model TH 42PA50A. It continually turns itself off after 20 minutes. I have had the power supply replaced, however the fault continued. The repairers could not replicate the fault in the workshop and sent it back faulty even though they had seen it fail in my home. The power to the house is good. I have tried different cables and power points.

If it's a plasma, and not a rear-projection TV... try situating a floor-standing fan behind the TV, blowing over the back casing. (as hard and close as possible)

If it lasts longer, or doesn't fail at all, you know you have a problem with (probably) a transistor or two (or more!)

Bigger heatsinks or replacing the transistor(s) with higher heat-rated units can be the fix for that. (cheapest option first, but best option is to replace faulty transistors)

IF YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG THE T.V. TO GET IT TO RESTART, IT IS PROBABLY HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT DOWN. IT CAN BE THE FLYBACK TRANSFORMER OR POSSIBLE BE A SHORTED CRT.
DOES THE SET HAVE HIGH USAGE ON IT ? WAS IT A FLOOR MODLE ? IS IT WATCHED MORE THAN 4-6 HOURS A DAY ? YOU CAN DROP THE CRT BOARDS AND SEE IF IT STAYS ON. OR REMOVE THE HIGH VOLTAGE (RED ) LEADS OUT OF THE HIGH VOLTAGE BLOCK. MAKE SHURE YOU DON'T REMOVE THE ONE GOING INTO THE BLOCK. ONLY GOING OUT. ALSO CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAK ON THE BOARD. IF THE STK'S ARE ON A SEPRATE BOARD YOU CAN UNPLUG THE CONVERGENCE BOARD AND SEE IF IT STAYS ON.

irst of all, you should try making sure in your menu that you do NOT
have your timer set to shut off. You'd be surprised how many people
call Zenith every single day and fuss at me because their tv is
'broken' and they have a timer set. Secondly, it sounds to me like it
could be an issue with your power supply. Does it turn itself back on
randomly as well? Do you hear any popping sounds when it turns off?
Check with your manufacturer to see what their repair warranty is.

TC-P42ST30 power light blinks twice, replaced power supply board,no change. What to replace next?

Are you SURE you get 2 blinks? I show NO 2 blink code in the 011 model Pana plasma sets. Anyway...if you replaced the PS board and still get a code, unload the VS supply from the SC board and re-check--see if the VS supply comes up--even for a couple of seconds...about 205 volts or so. If it does--re-connect and see if it then does not come up. If not--then the SC board is likely bad (THE most common failure on ANY plasma set is the Scan board ).

Samsung hcm4216W turned off by itself loops.

Instead of typing model number of your TV (that located on right hand side and on the back of TV) you published here part number of your TV's remote control. LOL.
Anyway... If it is LCD/plasma panel that you talking about - than power supply have bad electrolytic capacitors that have to be replaced. You can recognize 'em by bulged/swollen tops (instead of flat tops of good capacitors).
This repair required soldering skills.

without having a play with the remote its difficult to know exactly ,but either way their is a fault with your remote or the reciever in the actual set and the only way to get this sorted is the man with the right software to plug into the TV to diagnose the problem ,sorry to say it and that is to return the set with the remote to the dealer.

Mitsubishi WS 65513 turns itself off

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

I have bought a panasonic TV TH-50PZ80A , approximately 20 days ago , when we trun on it doen't turn on , the power and evrything is ok, the red small light is not on, What can be problem?

There is likely a problem with the power supply. Given that this unit is only 20 days old, don't waste any of your time on it. Return it for a warranty exchange.

I need to replace my panasonic plasma screen model; th-42px70b

I don't have a listing for your exact model, but the front glass for a similar model runs about $325. Is the front protective glass broken or is the LCD panel itself broken. If the LCD panel is damaged then you are looking at over $1000 for the replacement.

I would check the internal fuses, should be 4, also check the output of the power supply, could be your y block is gone or your power supply.

Well don't tamper with it just return it, there is serveral problem that may cause this, most likely it is the power supply board.
