If you look right abovce the keyboard you will see a strip that needs to come off ok then you will see 3 screws and one of those screws holds the keyboard in that needs to come off
also after you lift the keyboard from the slot it is in then you will see the cd rom there syhould be a screw on the back of the laptop that is holding the cd rom in place ok just remove the screw and slide out the cdrom ok and just put in the new cd rom and put the screw that holds it in and then replace the keyboard and the screws for that and then replace the strip and you are finished now just power it up and it should recognize the cd rom ok i hope that this is a fixya for you best regards mike

Dl'ed Spy bot on Toshiba Satellite laptop turned my laptop on there is a repair error 0xc0000185 cant auto repair. Is there anything I can do to get it back up?

The 0xc0000185 error simply means that the computer can't communicate with the CD drive. It could be due to a faulty CD drive or media, a bad connection, faulty interface, bad memory, power supply etc. You will need to isolate the problem further, why couldn't you boot normally? check the BIOS settings again and try clearing the CMOS memory correctly as described in the manual (just removing the battery may not be good enough).

Where can I find manual for Toshiba Equium A200-15i?

Toshiba has the user manual as a zipped pdf in their archives. (use the drop down menus to select Archived files, Equium notebook, series A, A200). The direct link to the A200 PSAE0 is here: . You will need to extract the file from the archive and then open it with Adobe Reader or a similar program.

I hope this helps.

I have a toshiba equium a300d that wont read disk

The lens in the DVD drive maybe dirty, gently clean the lens with a soft cloth.
If this does not fix the problem then the drive maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.

Dvd rw wont play dvds or cds my lapyop is a toshiba equium l40

Update the drivers and check, also try and use a lens cleaner on the drive and if the DVD does not read then the drive is faulty and must be replaced. Finally you can check this on another PC to confirm.

Check cable connection PXE-MOF: exiting intel PXE ROM No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

-Possible corrupted BIOS or failing hard drive.
- When you get the error, try to insert the Windows installation CD that came with the laptop then press any key. Check if that will fix the problem.

-You can also check memory module. There are times some hardware are causing conflicts to the system. Try to remove memory module and check for the error again. If removing the memory module resolves the problem, it's a faulty memory. If not, then it could be a problem with the hard drive. Be sure to take necessary precautions before removing parts on your laptop.
For guide in removing and installing devices on your laptop, you may visit to download the manual for your laptop.

- Last option is to reset the BIOS which requires removing the CMOS/Lithium battery for 5 seconds and putting it back. You can do this by opening the bottom panel of the laptop which requires an expert to do it.

~~Hope this helps.~~

You can use the Toshiba Satellite guide for removing and replacing the DVD/CD-ROM drive or the keyboard. On this model you have to remove the keyboard in order to remove and replace the DVD/CD-ROM drive because the optical drive securing screw is located under the keyboard. Always start laptop disassembly with removing the battery or you can damage the system board if you accidentally touch it with a screwdriver and shorten traces. Removing the keyboard strip is not very difficult, use your fingers to release the plastic latches. If you want to replace the keyboard, do not forget to unlock the connector on the system boar before you pull the cable.
