Question about Canon Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D Body only Digital Camera

Sandisk card problem

I got a new sandisk ultra II 2 gig card for my Digital Rebel Xt 350D. after inserting the card the first time, the camera said 1.9 gig free. after formating the card, I get 1.8 gig free. is the camera's format different from the factory's format? also, I don't see the options in any of my menus to see the camera's OS version? it's suppost to be in sp2, but I looked in all the menus and don't see it anywhere.

Re: Sandisk card problem

He firmware version of my 20D only shows up when the camera is switched to a manual mode. Stick it on AV or something and try the menus again. Hope that helps! :-)

No. Have you tried using a separate card reader to download your pics? Take the card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak Kiosk and insert your card...the pics may show up.

Some cameras cannot handle over 2GB memory cards. If it works fine with 2GB card - stick to that. If some other A620 you know operates with 4GB card, take yours to repairs.

Err CF

I had the same message on my EOS/Rebel XTI and the camera shop concluded that one of the pins where the card is inserted into the camera had come loose. They sent the camera back to Canon for repair. Luckily, it was still under warranty at the time.

Err CF

Observe the connector inside camera, using a flashlight. If there is a bent pin take the camera to service immediately. Don't turn it on any more as we did in one similar case - creating a short circuit that damaged the camera electronics and voided the warranty.

If no visible problems, remove battery and leave it out overnight.

there are two chances: 1. your card is not compatible and 2. the card is defective.
good CF-cards you can get from SANDISK. I use them myself w/o a hassle and they are very fast......
keep your hands of Lexar or other Offbrand cards. they are not worth the money you pay for and also too slow. Sandisk cards have a real transfer rate of up to 40MB/s

Rebel XT will not work with new faster CF cards.

Check the volume and speed of memcard, maybe it is not compatible. error 99 is an indication that a lens or shutter curtain is not working, so i cant see any connection with the memcard problem. Check your camera memcard compatibility.
