Why does my computer tell me my cou1 mic has malfunctioned everytime I plug it into the usb port?

Sounds like a defective mic. Test it on another computer, with another USB cable, and if it still doesn't work, call customer service and they'll send a replacement.

If you shout into mic and the audio signal LED on receiver lights everything is ok.First check your receiver to amplifier jacks and cables,If ok check muting transistor inside the receiver next to the audio output terminal. As an expert on cordless microphones I'll be glad to answer your questions. When using Skype I can hear other person fine but she can barely hear me. I have tried to adjust sound on skype but it doesn't seem to make a difference

Hi,
I had the same problem and I replaced and/or used "external mic for Notebook " for this purpose and everything is ok now..
pls use new mic and make a test call to SKYPE to hear your mic voice as well..

Take care and if it succeeds please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

It Says that there is a built in mic but the people i chat with can't hear me. i don't think it's properly set-up. how do i set it up for skype and ym?

Make sure you have correctly installed the drivers for the microphone.
Running Skype, navigate to Skype-->Preferences--->Audio/Video from here you will able to select the device of your choice by changing the mic
Running Yahoo Messenger, navigate to YM-->Preferences-->Voice & Calls from here you will able to select the input device by choosing your mic These steps reference Mac, but PC should be similar.

On skype the other person is not hearing me. i am told it is a problem with my microphone. where is the microphone on the torshiba and how can i fix it

To confirm use an external microphone that is plugged to the mic input of your PC. If the mic works fine then the fault can be the internal mic. You have not mentioned the PC you are using but I suppose it is a Toshiba. If so the mic is located on the base of the PC... look for the tiny grill opening.

Everytime i get onto skype the person i call cant hear me but i can hear them. The video is fine.

Plug your mic in to the mic socket on the computer & switch it on, go to the speaker icon down near your clock(bottom right) right click on it & open the mixer turn the fader up on the mic or select the mic as your default record device,if you need more help then i will need to know what operating system your using i.e windows XP / VISTA / 7 etc.....
or find the sound & vidio setup option in skype.

GE PC Microphone with detachable laptop mic - does not work

Go to your default settings menu at the very top of the menu in the all programs. Check in there and make sure that your default recording device is the GE Microphone, if it is not, make that the default.

Trying to use a microphone but not sure how to hook it up

No because the mic is a signel in device and the headphone jack is a signal out jack! meaning if you plug the mic into it the mic will act as a speaker and music will come out of it and ruin it!
I would buy an adapter at radio shack and plug it into the phono input on the back of unit! and if you dont have a phono input you will need to buy a small pre-amp and plug it into the aux or tape input!
That will work!

Thank You!
