That all depends. for music pandora is cool. if you are a musician there is a cool beatmaker app. for docters there is a cool app to keep track of patients. there are tons of workout apps, which i have not enjoyed any, but i am a p.e. major and they were a bit simple.sportstap is great for keeping up with current scores and livesports does a nice job w baseball(mlb). the ipint and phonesabre are free and just a novelty, but fun(ipint make phone look like a beer that empties as u tilt, and phonesaber makes it sound like a star wars lightsaber) if you need an organizer there seem to be a bunch of decent ones. the app store has reviews for each app, and they are pretty accurate, just be careful if only a few have reviewed app. these reviews are less acurate. the better question would be which apps should i avoid! many seem to be corrupted and that leads to restoring phone which is a lengthy pain in the ****. if there is a must have i would say, my lite, as i have used it in a blackout to light candles. it simply displays a white screen which functions as a flashlight(strobe/colors as well)

Firstly you should have the latest firmware for your Iphone .Secondly avoid Jailbreaking since it can cause apps to misbehave thirdly some apps are not compatible with older Iphone so read discription of apps properly.
Unfortunately, that will not be possible. Apps are written to be compatible with the most current hardware software profile. iPhone 3G highest iOS revision was iOS 4. There have been 3 revisions to iOS since then, and 3 upgrades to the iPhone hardware. The App Store only provides support for compatible hardware software profiles. Legacy software is not available. Sorry for the bad news. Good luck.
the main difference between the iphone 3g and iphone 3gs is the speed. but here are the specifications for both phones
weight: the 3gs is slightly heavier at 135g
memory: iphone 3g only has two options an 8gb or a 16gb whereas for the iphone 3gs it has 8gb/16gb/32gb
camera: the iphone 3g has 2mp camera that can only take pictures while the ihpne 3gs has a 3.15mp camera that can also capture videos
cpu/processor: iphone 3g has ARM 11 412 MHz, PowerVR MBX-Lite graphics while the iphone 3gs has 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, PowerVR SGX535 GPU. So the 3gs is faster and it means less or no lag on apps the 3gs has a digital compass and the 3gs has a longer battery time than the 3g. to summaarize, the iphone 3gs is faster, has longer battery life, and has a bigger memory (as it comes with a 32gb version).
Your phone might have been "Soft unlocked". If you download apps and update your iPhone, it will get locked back to whatever American carrier it used to be locked. Solution is to apply "Soft unlock" again. Try to google "Black rain for iPhone 3g" you will find what you are looking for...
To download applications on iPhone, you need to open an Apple ID. Once your apple id is created (on apple website), you can download apps from your iphone. When the app is free, it will not be charged.
hope that helps
The apps can be reinstalled only from the pc, to which you iphone was hooked up for the first time. I had same issues - had both at home and at work. So from that pc at work, i could not sync the apps. But then - try to log on to your app store account - at least it might let you sync those apps from iTunes :)
