Question about Teac CD-Rewritable W28E CD-RW Burner

TEAC DV W28ECT ATA DEVICE CODE 10

For some unknown reason my cd/dvd rewriter burner will not start (code 10 ) when i look in device manager. i send error report but still the problem is there. I am using a Toshiba Equium A200 running Vista. It was working fine 4 days ago. I have tried rolling back using restore point but made no difference.

    hello, my dvd device gives the same error message and refuses to start.

    Could you please help me , where I see other notifications with the samen error?

    exaclty the same error 10 Device cannot start. What is this all about and how do you fix it?

To solve this Code 10 error, follow these instructions: NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications.
1) Close all open programs

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • SYSTEM
  • CurrentControlSet
  • Control
  • Class
  • {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4)This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry.Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
  • UpperFilters
  • LowerFilters
  • UpperFilters.bak
  • LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

6) After deleting the keys, close the
Registry Editor

7) Reboot your computer


8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives havereturned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that theyellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

I have a Toshiba Laptop with a TEAC DV-W28ECT burner. When I insert a blank disc in burner drive (using Sony DVD+R discs) to make a copy it makes a lot of clicking noises as though it is trying to engage...

Use solvent or nail remover with fine cotton .After clean delete all the temp file from your os .
For xp run > %temp% > hit>select >delet all.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)


open the device manager
for XP
Right Click My Computer > properties > hardware Tab > device manager

Vista
Right Click My Computer > properties > the click device manager on the top left had side

then click the plus sign beside the CD/DVD drive
right click TEAC then uninstall
once the device is gone restart the computer

after the restart check again the device manager if it has an eclamation point it it does then

follow this step NOTE: please back up the registry before proceeding the troubleshooting

Probably a codec problem on the notebook. rather than a drive problem. Try a 3rd party media player such as Real Player or Quicktime

Go to the device manager. uninstall the dvd drive .restart computer after turning the power off. re-install the device from add hardware wizard.restart computer.this may solve the problem.

if you just installed this device you will have to go to the utility manager and make sure all the functions are turned on, do you have windows xp. what os are you using and i can give you instructions how to go this.
