Re: Hi i have a LG neo plasma air conditioner does not...
It sounds like your coils are froze up or at least your thermostat says they are. If they are froze and the thermostat is functional, then your defrost heater is probably open and needs replaced.
Suggest you unplug the unit and let it manually defrost and then see if it will work. If it does then it is the defrost heater.Suggest you unplug the unit and let it manually defrost and then see if it will work. If it does then it is the defrost heater.

Make sure the setting on the remote is correct . Sun symbol for heating. Make sure the filters are clean. On heating, the indoor unit will 1/2 open the flap but the fan shouldn't start. The outdoor unit should start and if working properly, will be blowing cold air. The indoor unit will open the flap fully and the indoor fan will start once it gets hot then you should feel warm air. If the outdoor unit is blowing warmish air, I would say the reversing valve coil has failed or one of the indoor temp or pipe sensors are faulty. If a sensor fails, a "CH" error should appear on the display.
I assume its the outside unit of the bedroom that freezes up ?? If the outdoor temperature is below 5 degrees celcuis, its likely to freeze up on the outdoor coil ( On heating mode), there is a defrost function which defrosts the machine automatically. If the indoor unit starts to freeze up ( on cooling mode), I would suggest that there is a shortage of refrigerant gas. Especially if the indoor unit starts to "spit" water out when it is running. There may be a gas leak due to a pipe failure or loose flared fitting. These must be rectified before recharging with gas.
We have the exact same problem with our unit. Can't find solution. Any chance you have found out the cause? We also have 3 units, in 3 different rooms. The air vent's are in our garage.
Possible problem with the thermostat which might be sensing the wrong temperature and so is not switching ON the compressor. So if the AC works once it is ON then the gas and compressor seems good. So you must check the thermostat and control board. Set the AC to a lowest temp and try.
To get proper cool, keep the tips as follows: 1. Check air filter is cleaned. 2. Check indoor coil is cleaned. 3. Checkindoor blower motor is working. 4. Keep in cool mode. 5. Set temp minimum 3degrees less than room temp.6.Check compressor is working with correctpressure. Thanks. Helpful?
