Re: computer not booting
So what makes you think the processor is working?? You have no proof of that since you go so far as to admit there is no display and no bios beeps. If the processor was working and the motherboard was doing its job, you would get some bios beeps during the boot up phase even if the hard drive, display, and memory was bad. So I see one of two choices in what little information you have given so far. Processor is NOT working or motherboard is NOT working. or even may both are not working. What do you think????

beeping at boot means different things. google beep codes if you have another pc?. could be ram failure, processor, mobo failure , etc. Or..it could be a flat battery-which can stuff up the bios and wont boot. So check the mobo batt isnt flat first and reset the mobo bios- jumper pin. Hope that helps.
Here are the beep codes for the Thinkpad:" Continuous beeping System board failure One beep; Unreadable, blank or flashing LCD LCD connector problem; LCD backlight inverter failure; video adapter faulty; LCD assembly faulty; System board failure; power supply failure One beep; Message "Unable to access boot source" Boot device failure; system board failureOne long, two short beeps System board failure; Video adapter problem; LCD assembly failureOne long, four short beeps Low battery voltage One beep every second Low battery voltage Two short beeps with error codes POST error message Two short beeps System board failure.
there are two reason for this problem. and the most probably is the first reason below. 1. your motherboard is not supporting the installed processor. although it powered up all the components and parts but the processor dont work at all. 2. even if your motherboard supports the processor and it works fine then there is problem with the VGA.
Finally to check the motherboard and processor whether they are working or not. please remove RAMs from motherboard and start your computer and now if it gives the beeps sounds then motherboard and processor are working. and if you dint listen any beep sound then the installed processor is not being supported by motherboard.
IF your systems turns on no beeps ...everything seems to work just no display on the screen then i guess would should try discharging your system - ie un plug the power cord take out the Motherboard ,ram , basically take everything apart leave it for a day and connect everything back again ti should work
This is caused by a system board failure. Take the laptop apart again and check all of your connections. Also make sure the ram and processor are seated correctly. You can also try hooking up an external monitor to see if any errors display. This may be an indication that the video cable connected to the system board is not fully connected.
From IBM website: Two short beeps - System board failure
The lcd display, must have a temperature sensor connected to the board, remove and re boot pc , as the beeps are indicating a overheated processor.
See if pc boots without beeps, and check the pc temperature in the bios screen is normal.
If so board fault on sensor.
