Determine whether the game disc and the console are from the same country or region
    loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry');Game
discs and consoles are made for specific countries and regions. If you
try to play a game disc that is made for a specific country or region
on a console that is made for another country or region, the game disc
    will not play.

For example, if you purchase an Xbox 360 console
in North America, your region is North America. Therefore, you cannot
play game discs that are sold in Europe or in Asia on this console.
Similarly, an Xbox 360 console that is sold in Europe can only play
game discs that are sold in Europe, and an Xbox 360 console that is
sold in Asia can only play game discs that are sold in Asia.

    To
see whether this issue occurs because the country or the region of the
game disc and the console do not match, look on the back of the game
package. Look for one of the following codes:

NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)

NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)

PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New ZealandIf your game disc code does not match the region where you bought the console, you will not be able to play the game disc.

Sorry you can't fix it. Most games are Region specific meaning that they are playable only on Xbox 360 systems from the specific region that you have. If you bought your Xbox 360 in Australia then it is likely PAL system and can only play Pal games.

"Determine whether the game disc is from the same region as the region where you purchased the Xbox console. To determine the region, view the back of the game package. Look for one of the following codes:

* NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)
* NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)
* PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand"

If the game you have doesn't match with your Xbox 360 Region then you won't be able to play it. (but a few games are playable on multiple regions, check list below)

Check out this site prior to buying games to help identify which games that aren't PAL might be still playable on your system.: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en-84-t.html

Notice that NBA 2K8 US version is not compatible with PAL system. If you had bought the US version of NBA 2K9 then it would have worked.

No, the American Ps2 game will not load on Australian one because in Australia the TV system mode is PAL and the in America its NTSC standard. You can't load any game until your Ps2 is modded. You can buy a modulator than can convert PAL to NTSC and vice versa.

Xbox will not read any game or dvd

It sounds like your DVD drive has failed, this is fairly common. There is a good chance it is still under warranty from microsoft. Give them a call at:

800-4-My-Xbox

If it is not under warranty you can replace the dvd drive itself, google xbox 360 replacement parts. It's not too difficult if you are technically inclined.

I have an american xbox console which im trying to get australian games to work

Sadly, you won't be able to get Australian games to work with your console. The reason for this is that Games bought in Australia are from a different region then what your system reads. You will either have to get an xbox made in Australia, or buy American games over the web or something. Sorry :(

Clean the disc with a soft cloth FFXI xbox360

this is caused by the n November update in the MS xbox360 dashboard. This is a problem with the xbox communicating with the hard drive. This usually occurs in xboxs that are not using the HD shipped with the console. According to square the only solution to this common problem is that you reformat your hd and intsall the game again. yes, you have have to wait for that dl to finish. square also states that there is a possiblity that this may re-occur after the second install, though rare.

Xbox 360 leaves scraches on my game.

if your 360 is still under warenty with microsoft they will replace your games and your system. give them a call. If its not under warenty you will have to purchase a replacement disk drive as its clear the laser is off kilter. In the mean time i would suggest not putting any other disks into the system until the issue has been resolved. Good luck!

Zone code

    1. Determine whether the game disc is from the same region as the region where you purchased the Xbox console. To determine the region, view the back of the game package. Look for one of the following codes:
    2. NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)
    • NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)
    • PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand
    1. If this symptom occurs with only one or two discs, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base (http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 (http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1) ) for the specific game title or titles. If you find a known problem, follow the instructions in that article.
    2. If the game disc worked in the past, the disc might now be dirty or damaged. Clean or replace the disc to see if this resolves the problem.
    3. If this behavior occurs with only one or two discs and no known problem exists, return the disc or discs to the retail store where you made the purchase.
    4. Turn off and unplug your console, remove the Xbox Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and any attached memory units (MUs), and then reconnect your console. Try the disc again. If this procedure seems to resolve the problem, turn off and disconnect your console, reattach the HDD and any MUs, and then delete any saved games for the game with which you had problems.. Note If you can do this, move the saved games to a different memory unit.
    5. If you have this problem only with original Xbox games (games that are designed for original Xbox, not Xbox 360), the original Xbox backward compatibility update may be missing from the HDD. To resolve this problem, download and burn a copy of the backward compatibility update to a disc, and then install the update to your console
