Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Recording mode my camera is saying it's in "recording mode" whenever I tried to take a picture- I have tried every mode on the little wheel. When I look at these images in the memory they are in slow motion. Is this something that can be fixed? I have had this camera for about 2 years now and has never given me this problem(or any problem) until now. Thanks

My cybershot once said 'capturing' and now says recording - I'm sure it thinks it's supposed to be filming. Weird. Any hints welcome!

Hi! Go into SETUP abd click until you see the briefcase (last icon on the right), hit the OK button, on the left hand column scroll down to the suitcase with the number 1 on it, click the right arrow to initialize and click right arrow again to OK. This will reset your settings! It worked for me. Good luck!

Ha - had the same problem, and after some fiddling realised I was in 'burst' mode instead of single shot! Hit, menu on the camera icon and reset to normal. Good luck!

Whenever I try to put on the flash, it says no flash in the macro mode. What does thaat mean and what do i do!!! Its really frustrating because it already doesn't take good pictures and i need the flash.

Macro mode is used for taking close-up pictures. In this mode, as the camera says, you cannot use the flash. There's a slide switch on the left side of the camera, near the USB jack. To take the camera out of macro mode, slide it away from the flower and toward the mountain.

Sony dsc-H1 won't switch off of movie mode

When you switch the camera from mode to mode, does it make the click noise to signify that the camera recognized that it changed modes? If not it could be that the switch itself has become unlogged from the switch. I know I had a older camera had this happen before. Try pushing down hard on the toggle wheel and seeing if it will snap back into place. Otherwise the switch inside the camera itself is probably broken, and if this is the case cheapest thing you can do is have Sony do warranty work on the camera. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SYCustomerCare?storeId=10151&catalogId=10551&langId=-1 Click repair and service under Technical Support. This will get the process started on the warranty work.

When in a record mode LCD says to "Please Turn Camera Off and then On Again". The lens retracts and then extends again but this message reappears whenever the camera is turned off and then on again. Can...

You are experiencing a media miscommunication. This due to low or incorrect amount of voltage to the cameras coding circuits.Take a Q-Tip "dampened" with rubbing alcohol and clean inside the battery compartment well. Do the battery contacts and the charger the same way. You should be all set after this. Dana

Try switching to Shutter Prority (S) with a fast shutter speed. If the light is not so good, up the iso to 800 to gain that faster shutter speed..

You do not say the lens in use ? if VR, make sure its switched on or use a tripod.

Hope this helps

Camera records regardless of mode setting.

Possible stuck button on the camera.
That may be due to some kind of juice, or drink or some such thing getting into the button area.
It may also be due to the fact that the trigger button is not releasing quickly enough.
This will need repairs, and may be more than what you want to spend. For that reason selling it as is or for parts on a site such as Ebay may be your best out.

Cannot Record Videos

I would try changing the memorised info that you put into your My1 settings and see if that helps. I just got my V700 today and the first thing I did was put my preferences into My1. I don't really know why your camera is transferring this to your video setting but try removing your presettings in My1.

Blank Screen and faulty shutter blades

I found out the hard way that you should never use alkaline batteries in a Digital Camera. I thought my camera had a fundamental flaw (power kept going off whenever I tried to take a photo or record a video and the shutter blades half closed) even though it was only 2 months old. I nearly wrote it off but all along the problem was that I was using alkaline batteries, which incidentally were enclosed with the camera in the box!! Once I switched to NiMH (Nickel) batteries the camera worked fine and the fault completely vanished! These NiMH batteries are avaiable in most electrical shops i.e currys/comet in the UK. They must be charged before use. They are more expensive than alkaline batteries (£8-£9 for 4) but as they are rechargable they last a long time.
