I had the same problem..but by using the info from this site..its now working again..I was thinking of just throwing it away and buying a new one..but just couldn't do it as the printer was only 14months old. Holding down the stop key + b/w button works!!!!!

    THANKYOU

Documentation says that the ink pad is full and needs an authorized dealer to fix. I would like to fix on my own. How do I get the part?

    thank you it worked!!!

When printer needs service notice pops up, turn off the printer, then hold down the 'Stop' and the 'B&W' button when you next hit the 'on' button. this will clear the error window and all should work again.

I had this problem also. What i did was hold down the 'stop' and the 'B&W' buttons while powering up. this erased the error message and now I am up and running fine again.

It cost me £30.00, last time this message came up on my printer, for my local computer repair shop to press three buttons, (plus a further £30.00 parking penalty.) thankyou for this very simple answer.

Excellent ... thank you so much! So simple and worked perfectly! (Am just worried that I might be spilling over the ink pad underneath now though???) I had no warning then switched on and it wouldnt print ... but this cleared problem immediately - just want to know if I still need to clean out pad though?

I had the same problem, and there's no way I'm going to let Epson hold my printer "hostage" just so they can make more money off of me. I tried holding the B&W and Stop button like a previous poster suggested, and it worked beautifully! Thank you.

We're getting this Service Required message - Parts inside your printer are near the end of their service life. See your printer documentation. What part are we needing to replace?

the parts most likely to be replaced with such a message are the waste ink pads. (sponge pads that collect the ink that is used for print head cleanings). these pads are difficult to reach inside the printer (full dissassembly is necessary) and doing so is a VERY dirty job. i suggest contacting a repair center near you.

You will need to get it serviced at an authorized Epson Repair shop as the parts that are at the end of service life are not user servicable. With the price of printers today it would be cheaper to buy a new one with updated technology than to try and have this one refurbished. Hope this helps.
