Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera

Flash card - problems inserting - release button is stuck

I made the mistake of allowing my 11yr old granddaughter put the flash card back in my camera. She bought it to me with the card stuck to the point I could hardly pull it out. I pushed the release button and it didn't come back up. Tried to reinsert the flash card and it is like something is making it jam. I really don't want to do anything more on my own and am going to take it to the camera shop but thought I check here for anyone else's thoughts on it.

Some of the internal parts may be bent and the camera may have to be taken apart and fixed. If tt is not worth the repair price, you may opt to sell it for parts or as is on a site such as Ebay.

My camera is saying protected card and won't work now. I put the card into my computer to download some pics and now it wont allow the camera to operate

Take the card out of the camera, there should be a small slide switch on the memory card, just slide it over and that should release the lock giving you access to the pictures. The manufacture put it there so you would not delete by mistake.

Need to delete protected pictures

Try to remove first the memory card of your camera. After you remove the card you can see a small button at the side of the memory card. Just slide the small button to unprotected. Insert your memory card back to your camera and try to delete pictures.

Green light on camera back to the right of the 'delete' button continually flashes on-off about 1 second intervals as soon as battery is inserted as long as CF card is in place. Switching camera ON...

I would start by looking into the memory card slot to see if you have a bent pin. You may need a small light and a magnifying glass to see them.
If the pins are okay, then you can try a reset by holding down the BKT and metering buttons together for 2 seconds. The metering button is on the left, behind the off/on/release.

Thirdly, you can try a firmware update on the camera which can be found here:

I took my SD card out of my camera to allow someone else to use it. Now when I put it back in it reads-card locked-why?

Make sure that you have not by mistake moved the Read only slide on the SD card take it out and but it back in the R/W position some times these are a bit loose so make sure it clicks into place as sometimes when you insert the card you can knock it !!

"Disk is unreadable" message when inserting a CF Card - Macintosh OS 9.x

Certain system software is needed to allow a Macintosh (running Macintosh OS 9.x or earlier) to access mounted compact flash cards. If this required software is not installed the computer will not be able to recognize the card and will display the following error: DO NOT press the "Initialize" button, as this will completely erase the card and destroy all images. Click the "Eject" button and then enable the necessary system software. The following Extensions or Control Panels need to be activated: File Exchange - Control Panel Foreign File Access - Extension The "Extensions Manager" Control Panel (found under the "Apple" menu) can be used to enable these items. After switching them "On" restart the computer to apply the changes. After restarting the computer insert the card and it will mount on the desktop like any removable disk.
