Check for correct voltage at the terminal block on the back of the dryer, where the power cord attaches to the dryer. You should be getting 220/240 volts, check by way of a voltage tester.
If the voltage is correct, then could be the motor capacitor or the motor itself, or start button?
Good Luck !
there are 2 different kinds of units made back then. one has a push to start button that could have a stuck contact causing the unit to think you are pushing the button and want it to run again. the other could have a stuck motor switch and thats not available separately. you would have to replace the motor. try to clean any lint out of the motor if you have that type. use compressed air to blow the lint out of the motor. it usually works to get the lint out and it can cause the switch to stick.
most of the time it is the door switch that goes bad, also you can check the main fuse inside the dryer on the blower box,and always make sure your dryer vent and wall vent are clear to vent, let me know what you find-mike
Hi, the problem with the dryer not stopping is most likely the switch that controls when it starts. This switch is located behind the button you would push in to start the dryer, and if you can take off the rear panel and get to it, you can most likely adjust the internal contacts so that they don't continuously make contact. Or you could just replace the switch, which might be easier!
