I was going to play FF12 and found some kind of film on them that prohibits my PS2 from reading it. I looked at several other of my games and they had the same problem. All the games that were in their cases were fine but those left out got damaged. Is there anyway to remove this film so I can finish playing FF12 and my other games.

Even if the game isn't scratched, you should try holding it under a light to see if there are any fingerprints or smudges on the disc. You can try cleaning the disc with a lint-free cloth if you've got one, though I've never had trouble with a cotton t-shirt. Wipe from the center of the disc straight towards the outer edge. Do this for the entire disc and try it again.
If that doesn't work, please update this issue with the error message you're seeing if any. Does the disc show up in the PS2 browser? Do you get a disc read error? Does the screen just go black when you try to play the game?
If your PS2 is horizontal, i suggest you put it in vertical position, if yet, it is not playing your dark cloud 2, it means your PS2 could be an old version that can not read the dark cloud 2 game because it is possible that the dark cloud 2 has come with a higher version that your PS2 could not read.
You might need to upgrade your PS2 to an higher version that will be able to read all the new version of the game.
If the DVD you are buying is original then it will just work on your ps2 that is also not downgraded. But if the DVD you bought is downgraded and your PS2 is not then it won't work. look for a technician who can downgrade your ps2 to read pirated copy of games. In philippines, we don't buy original copies, we just download it from the internet and burn it to a dvd. At the same time we downgrade our PS2
A Ps2 Will Only Play Ps One Games That Is All It Will Play It Also Play Mp3 Disc's And Dvd's The Xbox 360 Play Xbox Games, The Nintendo Wii Play's Nintendo 64 Games, The Ps3 Play's Ps One Games And Ps2 Games and The Nintendo Ds Plays Gameboy Games
i looked everywhere to solve this problem myself and only found using something like swapmagic or chipping your ps2 i went for the chipping solution as i found it easier. price varies so ask around for it.
We had the same problem on a PS2 (thin) that is several years old. We tried exchanging the disk - same problem. We have a lot invested in the PS2 system and just bought several new games for it for Xmas so we decided to buy a new PS2 and see what happened. The Rock Band game works perfectly in the new PS2 with no issues.
