Question about Canon MP610 Photo All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Canon MP180 Recently my printer ran out of ink so I refilled it with the black ink refill. The printer's alarm light is on, and continues to read "check ink" with error # U051. I've tried unplugging the printer and then plugging it back in, but it still comes up with the error message and refuses to print. Please advise some steps! Thank you in advance.

There is no way to reset the ink levels on the new canon cartridges. you need to turn off the ink status monitor :(

You'll know it's time to refill again when your printing starts to fade, streak, or discolor.

When you insert a refilled ink cartridge into your Pixma MP500 printer you should get a warning about the refilled cartridge. You should also be prompted, asking if you wish to disable ink level detecting. Agree to do so, and you won't get the warnings again because the ink levels won't be monitored by the printer.

I had my black ink refilled and my printer Alarm light is on and the printer reads - check ink and will not work. It is a Canon MX 300. Thanks for any assistance.

Press and hold down the stop/reset button until the printer restart. Then release the button and wait for the printer to initialize. These will reset the cartridge from being detected as refilled one.

Let me know if this works with you.
Please comeback and rate this solution.
Thanks for using Fixya.

I have Canon multifunction MX310 I was using

press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition.Canon do not like you to use refills and generic carts so the function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled

You have to look online for the canon tool to reset the ink counters. When you refill these cartridges you have to run this program in order to re-use the cartridges.

Canon MP180 Ink Problem

lads ye're all I work in an 'ink place' and the u051 fault is a fault indicating that the offending cartridge is electrically dead, this is caused by the clever little program in the canon machine that writes info to the cartridge to make it'dead' so it cant be re-used ! possible solution is to get refilled before printer thinks it empty !!
