How to Clean Computer from Viruses

Sometimes your computer might get to the point that you won't be able to do anything on it because it's infected with viruses and trojans. This is one of the worst infections you can get and you need to follow these steps in order to get rid of the infected files.

1. Download Hiren's Boot CD from a different computer if your doesn't work http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip

2. Burn it on a CD and then put the CD into the computer full with viruses

3. Boot from CD when prompted and from the CD menu select Mini XP which will load a mini copy of Windows XP onto your machine

4. After Windows has loaded, go to Hiren's Boot CD menu and from menu select Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

5. Once Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is loaded, run a clean on your computer. This will temporary and hopefully forever will remove some of the trojans and the rogue antivirus

6. When the scan is finished click to remove the infected files and restart your computer. Don't forget to take out the CD

7. From the other computer download a FREE antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials from this link http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

8. Install it on the infected machine. Upon restart you will be able to do this, although the computer may be still infected. After installation of Microsoft Security Essentials, run a full computer scan to clean any infected files that weren't already removed
Antivirus 2009 and 2010 Scam

If you have seen any of these popups shown below, on your computer, you have been infected with a fake antivirus. Not only is it fake, but it tries to force you to buy it, which is illegal and is considered fraud by authorities.
This program and it's many variants, take over administrative control of your PC, disable Task Manager, and regedit as well as replacing your desktop wallpaper with their fake warning. Well, it WOULD be fake, if this program weren't a Virus program all by itself.

Quoted From Bleepingcomputer.com

What this programs does:
Antivirus 2009 is a new rogue (Fake) anti-spyware program from the same family as Antivirus 2008 and Doctor Antivirus . Antivirus 2009 is installed and advertised through the use of misleading web sites that attempt to make you think your computer is infected with a variety of malware. Once installed, Antivirus 2009 will scan your computer and list a variety of fake infections that can't be removed unless you first purchase the software. These fake infections are only being shown to scare you into purchasing the malware.
When Antivirus 2009 is installed, a Internet Explorer browser helper object is also installed that displays fake messages when using Internet Explorer. These messages range from a line at the top of the browser stating an infection was found to adding a box to the Google homepage stating Google detected that your computer was infected. These tactics are just two more methods where Antivirus 2009 uses false information to scare you into purchasing their software.

Antivirus 2010 looks almost the same as 2008 and 2009.

e799bc4.jpg

Antivirus 2010
is a rogue anti-spyware program from the same family as Antivirus 2008 and Antivirus 2009. Like its previous incarnations, Antivirus 2010 is distributed through the use of advertisements on the Web pretending to be online anti-malware scanners. These advertisements pretend to scan your computer and then state that your computer is infected and that you should download and install Antivirus 2010 to remove these infections. These rogues are also known to be advertised and installed through Trojans that display fake security alerts in your Windows taskbar stating you are infected. Once you click on one of these alerts, it will bring you to the download page for Antivirus 2010, or even download and install it without your permission.
Once Antivirus 2010 is installed on your computer, it will be automatically configured to run when you logon to Windows. This is done by adding a startup that launches the C:WindowsSystem32wingamma.exe executable. This executable will then launch the AV2010.exe and the fake Windows Security Center. Once running, it will scan your computer and list a variety of infections that cannot be removed unless you first purchase the software. This infection will also randomly display fake security alerts on your computer stating that you are infected or have some sort of security risk. If you click on these alerts, it will prompt you to purchase the software. These fake alerts, along with a fake Windows Security Center that advertises Antivirus 2010, are used to further scare you into thinking you are infected so you will purchase this malware.
Another new addition to these types of rogues, is the creation of a fake Blue Screen of Death. At random intervals, Antivirus 2010 will create what appears to be a Windows crash, but in reality is just a hoax. These fake crashes are used to further scare you into purchasing this malware. If you receive this crash, you can simply reboot your computer , or try pressing Alt-Tab or Control-Alt-Delete to get out of it. The text of the crash is:
***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000, 0xF73120AE, 0xC0000008, 0xC000000)
A spyware application has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
SPYWARE.MONSTER.FX_WILD_0x0000000
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Click to make sure your antivirus software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your software manufacturer for any antivirus updates you might need.
Windows detected unregistered version of Antivirus 2010 protection on your computer. If problem continue, please activate your antivirus software to prevent computer damage and data loss.

END QUOTE HERE:

As you can see, all of this looks so very legitimate, as well it should, since THESE particular crooks have taken malware to a whole new level.
Yes, they will get caught, they always do.

The real difference here is that these particular scammers have decided to strong arm you much like a mobster demanding protection money, so the crime as well as the consequences will be much more severe.

The GOOD news though, is that even if you are infected at this very moment with this nasty program, you will be able to remove it before you reboot your PC and come back to Fixya!

Download and run, Malwarebytes Anti malware.
Don't forget to update it first though, just in case the fake antivirus has changed its nature to evade detection.
So far, this is the only program I have found to eliminate this problem, but I'm pretty sure others will follow the same path.

Follow up with Avast Antivirus, if you want something stronger than what others pay hard cash for at the store. Dont forget to uninstall your current Antivirus first, after all, it did fail to kill Antivirus 2010 didn't it?

Computer very slow

If your problem is that your computer is very slow and you have upgraded your memory to the maximum, then you should concentrate on cleaning up and optimising the Windows file system.

Download and install the following utility programs that can help you to improve the performance of your computer.

Advanced System Care Free - run the Deep Care option of this utility.
DiskMax - run a Detailed Scan and let it clean up all profiles, updates, cache etc.
Smart Defrag - run a Defrag and Fast Optimize
CCleaner - use this to compliment the above plus use the Tools Uninstall option to remove any unwanted software programs, browser tool bars etc. Also use the Tools Startup option to disable any of the programs being started on every boot that don't need to be, i.e. things like QuickTime, Adobe Reader.

Hi, My laptop taking so much time to switch on and it became very slow. Please tell me the soluiton for it.

Sometimes slow booting of computers and Laptops are caused by viruses and spywares. Also, a High temperatured Processor makes a computer slow.
Here are some solutions you might want to try.
 1. If you have a installed antivirus in your computer, i suggest you update your Antivirus and then Start scanning your computer for possible viruses and spywares.
 2. If viruses and Spywares are not the problem, maybe your Processor is feeling to much heat. I suggest you use Laptop Coolers like this one. heifentrixx_11.jpg
 3. This will help you cool down you Processor and Laptop.
Hope my solution will help. Thanks for using Fixya!

Running slow pop ups all the time

You more than likely have an infection. The problem is, removing an infection is a lot easier said than done. While your computer is running, so is the virus. And it would be like attempting to delete a picture, while you're looking at the picture. The computer will yell at you and tell you the file is in use. There are tons of guides on the internet as to how to easily remove a virus, but I will give you the short of it. If you don't have any antivirus active protection; Microsoft Security Essentials is free and pretty good. Download and install that. MalwareBytes and Spybot S&D (Search and destroy) are both fantastic at virus removal, but don't have active protection.
Download the three of these, install them, then restart your computer. As it is turning on, press F8 and then navigate to Safe Mode. Run all three scanners (not at the same time, and you might have to restart in between) and your computer should be much better off if this was the case. If this doesn't do much for your situation, at least you now have active antivirus protection.
Lastly you need to be VERY careful about the popups. Many of them advertise that your computer is infected and to buy "their" antivirus software. The problem is, that software is a scam and you will lose your money. And remember when you have big issues like running slow with popups all the time, you can always take it to a local tech shop if you're not comfortable with doing the work yourself. However this kind of repair can cost up to about $200.

What to do,computer is full of viruses wont let me in anywhere, system locked up,

In cases like this, you have no alternative but to format the hard disk and install Windows again.
You need your Windows installation CD and product installation code. After installing Windows and the Service packs, plus the computer's device drivers, then activate Windows, and install your programs.

How can I know if my computer is infected?

Unless you scan your PC with a valid antivirus programme you will not be able to detect the malware/virus infection. When you notice that the PC is reacting very slowly, the execution of programs are slow, the start gets dragging, the downloads are slow, it is time to check for infection that have caused software to be modified, deleted or corrupt.By using a good antivirus with constant updates on your PC , the possiblility of an attack can be detected or prevented but it will be safe not to go searching or downloading from unreputed sites. Also do not open mails frrom unknown senders, do not use USB/ipods/cd/memory cards etc from infected computers. Keep your system in good maintenace by using a good registry cleaner like advanced system care. Hope you find this helpful Good day
