Question about NAD 533 Turntable

Problem with connectors, no left channel

My NAD 533 is a few years old, I can't seem to get the left channel to work and I'm confused as to which of the 4 connectors to the stylus is the right one for the left channel. I'm trying to avoid sending it for servicing as it seems to be a connection problem. Can you help please

Your RCA leads/cables might be bad and need to be replaced.

How do I set-up my NAD 533 turntable for initial use???

This Turntable looks nice. The belt goes around the two spindles [one big one small. the speed is adjusted by choosing which part of the small spindle you put the belt on. The upper platter rests on the big spindle and doesn't seem to be secured to it.
The counterweight should simply screw onto the back of the arm.

The left main channel not working. hook any speaker to it and putting my ear close, it has a very low hollow sound, almost a hum. would there be fuses, a reset, or something on each channel or something...

There is no seperate fuse but it seems likely that the left side preamp or the power amp section had opened up a fusible resisitor that could have shut the section.
Now the only way out is to take a voltage or signal test with the right - working- channel as a reference . Please attempt only if you are familiar if not it will end up with further damage as the sections are very delicate. Testing with a signal will confirm the faulty section to narrow down your search.

The left speaker channel on my NAD T761 receiver is very weak. I can hear music coming out, but very soft and cracking... Please help me out!

Try to swap the input connector, Hook up the right to left input and then the left to right input. If the symptoms is still there then you have a faulty output IC on the left channel. This is not DIY and I've advice you to send it to repair shop to isolate the problem. Hope that you have only a dry joints on that area.
Thanks for using fixya.

My left channel goes out on my 533, when I touch the RCA in the back, it comes back on for a few minutes then cuts out again???

You need to replace the RCA plug with a new one. If it is on a seperate cable replace the lot, if not cut it off. There are only two wires one earth and the channel, you can't go wrong.

Improving my NAD 533

Well, I would suggest joining a Turntable, Audiophile, or Electronics forum. There are quite a few out there. All depends on which one you like.

There are plenty of cartridges out there which can provide optimal performance and sound. They range in price from US$50-$400 - all depends on your budget and requirements. I would suggest asking questions in the forums, as many of those people have already gone through what you are going through.

Nad c370 problem....

Hi arda5
Did you try swapping speaker connections left for right on the back of the amp to isolate the problem. If the fault stays with the speaker, then that is where your problem is. Try this and get back to me here with the results.
