Your problem is probably configuration related if its not driver related. Make sure drivers for your drive are properly installed. Check device manager to see if your drive has drivers, if not, download Driver-Mechanic which will update your driver. Alternativelly go to BIOS, Advanced settings, check if your drive is enabled

Try reinstalling the NIC driver. If its separate network card, connected in PCI adapter, try to remove and plug it back in to see if its found after.

Blank cd's are not recognized by the Dell Inspiron cd burner

I would first try removing the device in the control panel, system, device manager and then reinstalling the driver. There may be a problem caused by a windows update. In general CD drives rarely go bad. If the CD works say for a music CD then it should work for blank cd. You may also want to check the CD type. If you accidentally used a DVD, that won't work and in some of the older CD drives, they may not handle every type of CD format.

Good Luck

My Laptop no longer recognizes that it has a DVD/CD drive

If you can, remove unit from laptop and start laptop without CD/DVD. It is usually fairly simple to remove. Maybe a few screws in bottom of laptop. Cut off laptop and reinstall. Restart and windows should find it.

Tsst-h652d not working after upgrade, thinks its a cdrom not combo

Well, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. It was still worth a try. I have to agree with you. Since it isn't being recognized properly it probably isn't worth the trouble getting it repaired since typically that costs more than buying a new one. If you need to find some good prices on CD/DVD readers & burners you can look online here:

Newegg

Simply navigate to Computer Hardware > CD / DVD Burners & Media. After the page loads simply click, "CD / DVD Burners" located in the menu on the left.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you (posted as a solution so you could rate the responses above).
