Well if it the disk spins either the laser is burnt out or the laser is out of alignment if the disk does not spin then the motor assembly for the drive is gone and needs to be replaced.

It says no disc when there is

No Game Disc:
This error can occur when the Game Disc has been removed while the system is on and then the Disc Cover is closed. Follow these troubleshooting steps:
  1. Ensure the game is inserted correctly. With the power turned off on the system, replace the Game Disc in the system, printed side up. Press down gently on the Game Disc until it locks on the center hub. Close the Disc Cover and press the power button ON to see if the game comes on the screen.
  2. Determine if this happens with more than one game by inserting a different game into the system.
If the error occurs with all games, follow the Multiple Game Disc troubleshooting.
If the error occurs with only one game, follow the individual game disc troubleshooting I think that your gamecube needs to be repaird its reading laser is weak or is gone or the lens needs to be replaced too.

When i turn on my gamecube it says an error has occurred and to shut it off and check the instruction booklet for further instructions

  • An Error has occurred:
If you are getting the specific message, "An error has occurred. Turn the Power Off and check the Nintendo GameCube Instruction Booklet for further instructions." This means there may be an internal problem with the system.
    1. Check Individual Game Disc problems or Multiple Game Disc problems (depending upon how many games exhibit the problem) to see if the cause of the message is a dirty or damaged disc.
    2. If the disc appears fine or works properly in another system, this means there is an internal problem with the system. A repair will need to be set up. Please use our convenient repair options.

My gamecube does not spin the discs that i put into it and does not read them. Is there something i can do to fix this without having to buy a new one?

One time I ccidently touched the lens in my 10 year old gamecube so now the lens and the laser dont read the discs anymore because it is knocked out of anglement so you could buy a new gamecube now or buy a wii because wii's can still play gamecube disc's too.

My wii won't read any discs.

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide......

    GameCube Problems

If this problem occurs for every game you try, every time, then it is most likely a hardware failure, and you will indeed need to contact Nintendo for repair information. If it's only certain games, or only some of the time, then make sure the controllers and memory card(s) are securely inserted, the game disc is clean, the laser lens that reads the disc is clean, and that the disc area is free of dust and dirt.
