Question about Gateway Computers & Internet

My Gateway Model MT6711 was working and in the middle of my job shut off and will not start again....I had it plugged into wall socket. I get nothing....no lights at all ....what do you think the problem could be? thank you

It sounds like to me you have a power supply issue here check and see if there is any fans or noise from the powersupply when to try to boot if so unlpug the power cord from the powersupplu and press the powerbutton and hold it in for 15 seconds then release reconnect the powercord and try to reboot ok if nothing please keep me informed there is still a lot of advice i can give you best regards mike

Gateway c 140 xl won't boot


Try the following
  • Plug the unit directly into the wall, no adapters
  • Turn off the power at the wall socket
  • Hold down the power button on your device for 30 seconds
  • Turn all power back on and try boot again.

check at any other power socket or plug any other working equipment on the same wall socket to check if the power is ok in the wall socket
if all ok then either your power cord to the computer is not properly plugged in the computer or the computer power supply may not be working.
you may then require technical assistance of computer mechanic.

My p-7901U FX made a popping sound, turned off completely (crashed) and now won't turn on. After unplugging everything from the laptop and wall sockets, I plugged the power adapter into the wall


It looks like you had a component burn out somewhere. Save dismantling it and checking for component failures try contacting the Gateway support site:-

Shutdown problems


I assume it is not shutting down. Do a complete reset, unplug computer from wall push power button in for 3-5 seconds, then plug it in and restart the machine. Then let it complete the boot up process then go to start and shut it down again see if it shuts down now. Thanks for the question hope this assists you. John

Ezra, It could be: 1. Dead battery due to faulty Charger. Check the voltage of the charger output. Replace if dead. 2. Dead battery NOT because of charger. You can check it by plugging into the wall socket. Replace if found dead. 3. Faulty power jack on the laptop. Replace it if battery is fine. 4. Faulty power on switch. Needs a replacement. 5. Fault ahead of the switch, then need a professional job.

Computer shut down


The sparking has probably caused your circuit protection inside the AC adapter to turn off the current.
Also, when you are plugging an adapter in,,do not have it plugged into the wall power outlet when plugging into the laptop,,,plug into the laptop first and then plug into the wall.

Error 1200. i have tried to resolve using the steps in the manual. No luck The model is Lexmark 4720 Maltifunction printer


I managed to fix the problem. Error 1200

Checked for paper jam, no luck
Unplugged the USB connection and from the wall socket, no luck
Took the cartridge out and reloaded them again, no luck
Switched the whole computer off and then logged in back again, no luck.
Uninstalled the software.
Installed the software, driver, message "computer cannot communicate to the printer", but the scanner, fax and copy started working.
Deleted all pending jobs
Shut down the computer then logged in again.
Bingo, the printer started working.

My computer won't work


most clicking sound are made by failing harddrive... check with gateway people again if it is still under warranty and ask them to replace the drive or fix it.

fyi -- if it is really the hard drive that is making the clicking noise... there is a big chance that you will loose your data

Dryer stopping in middle of cycle but timer continues to run.


oK " It's your timer, it has to be replaced

it's not going threw all it cycles, will start but will not finish

not a big job, unscrew plate on back at the top you will see
timer , take it out and replace it

( can not stress enough that you have to unplug the electrical cord from the wall socket before working on a dryer or any appliance )
