Im trying to watch films from my laptop through my tv.The picture is fine but there is no sound???

You may need to change your sound device to the TV. You can find this in your Control Panel under "Sounds".

Here you will see what your speakers are currently set to. If you are using a HDMI cable, it should pick up your TV as a sound device. Right click it and set to default.

frequenly asked questions- you will probably need to also use an aux sound input in conjunction with a video cable if you are not using an hdmi connection, read the article above for confirmation.

I dont get picture at my computer to my flat tv philips pf42 via hdmi-hdmi connection.

Good Afternoon,
First the basics (these may seem silly but it's always good to cover):
Make sure you're TV is on and set to the right input Make sure the HDMI cable is well inserted to both the laptop and the TV Make sure you're laptop is on and set to your desktop display screen
Once all that stuff is verified, you'll want to use the quick shortcut key to send the signal to the television. For most laptops you'll want to hold the FN key while you press F7. If you give me the model number of your laptop I'll be able to check the button combination for sure.
If that is the right key set you can hold the FN button and press F7 a couple times to get a few different responses. There will likely be 3 settings, 1. Have just the TV display, 2. Have both the TV and laptop display and 3. Have just the laptop display.
Otherwise you may need to adjust your display properties to allow dual display capability. You can do this by right clicking anywhere on your desktop (don't hit an icon though!), from the drop down menu select display properties. From there you're just going to have to poke around to find and enable the option. Every motherboard/graphics card combination is different and I couldn't tell you exactly without seeing your screen.
Best of Luck!

You need to press the FUNCTION key or FN key. While holding down that key, Press one of the F keys on top. The F key will have a picture of a monitor on it. Usually F4 or F10 key. So hold down the FUNCTION key and press that F key. That will display your laptop on the TV. You can press it a few time to switch between your laptop display or both.

Problem hdmi connection

Hello, I'm from the Netherlands and I had the exact same problem with my philips lcd...

So what I did, was upgrading the software of my videocard (,this resolved my problem of giving a error on my laptop and restarting.

Then I got the message on my tv: "video not supported' , this I don't know exactly how i resolved this, but i tried fn+f4 a couple times. If that doesn't work you have to do something with the nvidia control panel (right click on desktop).

So now i had picture, but no sound.

To enable sound from your laptop to your tv you have to go to control panel>sound> set the SPDIF to your standard sounddevice and tick the box with wma audio something, tick out the other boxes.

I hope this will resolve some of your problems and others who have the same problem.
