Assuming you have a wireless router, make sure you have purchased the correct one, as cable and dsl routers are different, as cable modems need to be connected to the router via a cable and dsl normally have a modem that can't be connected to a router, and you will require a modem/router.
You can only share a wireless connection when the line comes directly to the router and not through a pc, as the pc with the connection will have to always be on.
