SOURCE: navman 4500 fish finder w/transom mount transducer
I finally got an email reply from Navman. If the unit is less than two years old (mine is not) they will repair it. If it is over two years old, or if you can't prove that it is less than two years old, you can ship it to them and they will repair it for the low, low price of 355 US dollars.
Pretty nice of them since it appears these units are highly problematic isn't it? I am wondering if they guarantee their fix, or just have you on the hook for another 355 dollars later.
Good Luck Everyone,
Walt

Hummingbird will refurbish that one for around 150US dollars, better then 500+ for a new one. If the screen is subjected to direct sunlight and heats up it can go out. This is why they discontinued the 67 model and replaced it with the 767.

Hi, Charlie!
I checked it out, and it turns out you can use the transducer of off your old 128 model.
Just unplug it from your current model, and plug it back into your EFE 480.
What I like about these newer fish finders is the fact that it also has gps built in to it, along with the maps for all of the USA, and the fact that it has a memory card slot, so that you can download new maps onto a memory card, pop it into the machine, and then it will update the maps !
Sure beats the old days where you had to send the unit in to a tech to have them install map updates.
Som yes, you can use the old one, and it should work with no problems.
Good luck to ya, and catch a big one for me !
