I looked up that amp, it doesn't have a listing for 2ohms x1 but it has 2 ohms x 2 and its at 250watts. For this situation, I would recommend a different amp or different subs. Right now you are getting the most you can get out of your sub/amp combo, if you only have single voice coil subs. Which is common in the mtx preloaded boxes. Either you want an mono block amp stable at 2 ohms or 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs. If you got the subs you would wire the voice coils in series so you could get 8 ohms then the subs in parallel so you could get 4 ohms, which would be the best for that particular amp. Good luck.

No sound from subs

You need power to the amp. If the light on the amp is not on then your amp is the problem. Get power to it.

I need to know how to hook up an alpine v12 amp 2 ohm i have two tens

Hi there,

This really depends if your 10" subs are 4 ohms each or 2 ohm - for this exercise, I'm presuming they are 4 ohm each.

You already know your amp can deliver 600W RMS (@ 2ohm), so you need to be careful you do not exceed the maximum RMS input power of your subs.

Normally you would wire subs in "parallel", which would reduce the circuit load to 2ohms - however, the 600W RMS power may be too high for your subs to handle.

In this case, it may be safer to wire your subs in "series" - this will increase the circuit load to 8ohms, which will effectively decrease the amps RMS power output.

Cheers,

Is it safe to hook two 4 ohm sub-woofers in parallel to one side (eg. left) while in the other just one 4 ohm?

Do not do it. It is not a problem of asymmetry, Problem is that two 4 ohm speakers in parallel will reduce the circuit load to 2.4 ohms, with a good chance of blowing the amplifier.

Can i hook up a powered 12'sub to a Pheonix Gold xs2500 amp without blowing the speaker

First I hope you remove the speaker wires from the speaker that come from the built in amplifire. You cannot hook the powered sub to the amp without doing that first. Then all you need to do is run speaker wire from the sub out of the box to the amp. In no way can you hook up any other part of the powered sub, but the sub itself, to the amp. If you know the wattage of the sub and the ohms then wire it to the amp correctly. Your phoenix amp will put out 125 watts x 2 at 4 ohms and 250 watts x 2 at 2 ohms and 500 watts x 1 at 4 ohms bridged. Remember, only the sub itself in the sub enclosure can be connected to the amp. Hope this helped you. Let me know if you need more help.

When I bridge the BAMF 2200/2 Power Acoustik amp it cuts off

Hello munchisfun,

I'd suspect that the amp is operating into too low of an impedance and going into protection.

The 2200/2 is not rated to drive a 2ohm load when bridged (most 2-channel amps aren't) and when you connect 2 4ohm subs in parallel, the load is 2ohms. I'd run one sub from each channel.

Hope this helps.

Got a 12"kicker L74ohm sub and sony xm-D9001GTR mono amp

Hello juan_penaloz,

The Kicker L7 has an RMS power range of from 50-750 watts and a maximum power handling capability of 1,500 watts so your Sony amp will power it OK. A more powerful monoblock like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or the Kicker 08ZX750.1 would provide even more power and could operate safely at 2ohms.

You have the voice coils wired properly for the Sony amp. It's OK to have the sub impedance higher, but you definitely do not want it lower than the 4ohms the amp is rated at in bridged mode.

Hope this helps.

Amp problem, need help!!!

Sounds like one of two problems: either your subs are beginning or have gone bad, or you amp is going bad. What size power and ground wire are you using? You should be using at least a 4 gauge for both. Also what impedence are you running with the amp, ie; 4ohm mono, 2ohms stereo, etc?

Pheonix Gold Xenon 600.1 power problem.

Do your speakers move in/out smoothly if you push on them?

Have you tried disconnecting the speaker wires from the amp to see if it would remain on?
