Re: Tripod socket

These holes are used for mounting the Support Arm for the TCON-300 Tele Extension Lens. The Support Arm has two pins that align to the holes at the camera's base.

Fujifilm s5000 battery door broken

g'day
i broke mine a couple of years ago and fixed it by drilling and tapping two holes to suit 6-32 x 11/4" bolts as shown in the attached photo... one of the holes had to be enlarged to suit 6mm x20 because the thread is in a very flimsy area and had stripped
BTW the battery cover doesnt have to be removed from the camera as is shown in the photo! the photo was taken after i disassembled the camera for another repair

it works well with a couple of provisos...
1- the bolt heads may get in the way of mounting the camera on some tripods without modification
2-not as quick to change the batteries
3- dont screw the bolts down too tight - or the threads will strip

before this method i made a metal plate, the same shape as the base of the camera and used the camera tripod socket to attach it... thus keeping the battery door closed [ the advantage of this was that i could drill and tap a thread to attach the lot to a tripod - and the tripod mounting hole could be ia the centreline of the lens - making panoramas easier]11_28_2011_10_48_37_am.jpg

I have a Canon S2 IS digital camera and I want to buy a tripod which will fit the camera. I saw the ad on http://www.futurebazaar.com/victor-3-feet-tripod/pd/46548/ page and wanted to know if my camera...

It would be silly for a tripod maker to make a tripod that wouldn't fit the tripod socket in a camera. You can go ahead and buy it with confidence.

Having trouble mounting my Nikon D3000 to Zeikos 72" tripod. There is not manual included and I'm not sure how to get it to stay on the quick release plate, other than manually rotating the camera...

Quick release plates on all tripods are in two pieces. One stays on the tripod and provides a locking mechanism to secure the camera and the other stays connected to the tripod socket on the camera.

How do you get the battery door open on the sharper image u-video camera?

The battery door is at the bottom of the camera, just below the little box with THE SHARPER IMAGE in it and opens easily ...if you know the trick. (The tripod mount is in the bottom of the door.) using your thumb, press down on the tripod screw hole and push on the door from the front of the camera toward the rear and the door pops open. Reverse the procedure to close.

I'm trying to attach a Canon EOS Rebel XS to a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod, but the tripod socket on the camera is too small. How do I attach them?

You need a head. The tripod has a standardized screw for accepting a tripod head, which is a larger screw than for the tripod mount on the camera. There are a variety of heads available, ball heads, three-axis heads, geared heads, pan-and-tilt heads, and more.

Here's a page showing Manfrotto heads:

Can't connect to PC while using tripod.

I have dificulties in understanding the problem.
A tripod is a device used to hold the camera still it is impossible to connect a tripod directly into the computer.

Use the USB cable to connect the computer with the camera.

Please refrase your question and re-submit

Thank you

How to fit canon s5is on a tripod stand (fotomate)?

I'm not sure what you're asking. There is a threaded tripod socket on the bottom of the camera. You just screw the tripod into this socket. Is that what you were asking?
