Try turning your inteli-mute off. If the inteli-mute (I-mute) is set with the RPM's too high it won't detect radar because the detector thinks you are traveling at a slow speed and detection is unnecessary. If your detector begins working, consult your owners manual to reset the I-mute limit if you want to use that option.

Constant "K" level 1 signal

Had 1 of them for 6 months until it caught on fire, not made very well, I'm sure it's just a defective unit as they all are. If you had it over a year you got your use from it, Mine was never bright enough or loud enough to ever alert me anyway. I less thing to have in my car and never missed it. I have it in pieces in a drawer somewhere.

Tips to Picking the Best Radar Detector

Remember the last speed ticket you received? Remember thinking that you must have a radar detector? Well, life is a little easier, follow these tips when you decide you do not want another speeding ticket to remember. The Internet is the best source of information for most people. There are a number of sites that offer expert testimony about the options and models that best suits your needs and budget.

An interesting fact to consider when deciding to buy a radar detector, there are over 100,000 radar detectors used by the police every day in this country. This number increases to about 20,000 more each year.

The price is also taken into account more people. But the old adage, you get what you pay for, is incredibly accurate radar detectors. When you think of the money is used, when you get your ticket (ticket price for the time off work to pay for it, increases in insurance premiums, etc.), it's worth, that most people spend the more money to buy high quality radar detector.

Do you remember the last speed ticket you received? Do you remember thinking that you should have a radar detector? Well, lives just got a little easier to follow these tips when you decide you do not want another speeding ticket to remember

My beltronics police radar turns on but turns back off and I don't know why

The new Rader Unites that law inforcement use has a built-in
Blocker, Unlike the old units you could pick up the signal .
This keeps people from knowing when they are used.

Radar dont always work and the speaker is going out

the stock speaker is only 0.5 watt. Replaced with a .75 watt. Mine and two friends both had blown speakers by they middle of the second year of use. The only other real problem was too many false alarms in town, but better safe than sorry, bang for the buck is great-saved me more than I care to think about in tickets and residual costs. Now, it's loosing it's sensitivity, still goes off for false alarms but I got a ticket and it didn't go off (not laser) and can drive by the posted speed-readout radar things they park-mount on utility pole for "us" and it wont even go off. The other day it did, one out of 20 times (by my house) it was Ka! Luckily, the local cops use KU in their crusers so it will work until I get a new one. Too bad it's dying, planned obsolecence is only a year on these I would GUESS.
Thanks

As other users said the cleaning took care of the issues. So I took their suggestions because nothing to lose. I took it apart. It is very easy. Just remove 3 crews at the bottom. It has one snap-in hook at one of the corners but easy to separate it. Then I removed the metal part (aluminum die-casted, silver color) from the PCB. It is easy to remove, just remove 6 screws (I think it is 6) then pull the thing out. Inside the aluminum die-cast part is dirty. If you clean inside with Q-tip, you can see the nasty stuff comes off. I think what happens is that the nasty dust comes off then stick on the sensing elements, which might have caused false signal. Also I cleaned tiny elements inside the metal piece with Q-tip. Now it seems working normal. Hope it stays normal. Give it a try if your unit does not act normal. Better than spending $$. Good luck!

I dont understand

That may be because he does not have his radar unit activated. Radar units work by sending out a microwave signal. It bounces off your car and back to the unit. It then calculates the whole distance over time thing and figures out your speed...it's more complicated than that, but I don't feel like giving a class...and I'm not a real genius anyway when it comes to physics and whatever other -ics are involved with the science of radar. Point is...radar units have a hold function..kinda like turning that microwave beam on and off...when the officer has the radar on "hold" there is no beam coming out..which means, there is nothing for your radar detector to detect. When he takes it off hold to clock your speed, the magic beam shoots out, bounces off your car, and returns to the unit..then tells the officer your speed...by the time your radar detector actually lets you know you're being clocked, Mr. Officer is already turning around to come pull you over. Hence the reason radar detectors are a waste of money...but then again, there are plenty of cops that ride around with the the sending out a signal all day and never actually put it on hold...if a cop is using the radar properly, the radar detector in your car will not help you...but, not everyone does what they are supposed to do, so therefore, it may save you from one or two tickets.
Now, the reason it doesn't alert you when the police are right in front of you is because either the police in front of you; A)do not have a radar, B)do not have their radar on, C)they have it on "hold" and are not transmitting a signal, or D)your radar detector is broken and you need to get it fixed or replaced.

False Laser warning when engine RPM goes over 3000.

Hey guys, me again....Deadcandance..... I posted my trouble on a Satellite forum I belong to and I had a suggestion which I tried. And it worked!!!!! No manufacture returns, no cost at all, what I did was tokk it apart gently ...watch how everything comes apart so that you can reassemble again....

Start by getting a couple Q-Tips (Ear Swabs).Leave them dry so they won;t leave any residue on the diodes. Gently clean the horn, than clean/wipe the electronics board, and blow out the diffusion screen (leave the spit in your mouth). After I wiped the unit down, I didn't see any dust persay or dirt on the Q-tip but whatever I did, fixed it....
It worked for me. Took 15 minutes to do and I have been using the Radar for three months and not one false alarm in Laser mode.
Good luck...
