You need an xp cd in the dvd drive and set your bios up (F2 or Del on startup) to the cd drive as the first boot device, then on restart the pc will start up the dvd drive, press enter when prompted and then choose instal windows in the options menu you are presented with.

If you don't have an xp cd, as long as you have your own product code number on the underside of your notebook, you can use a friends to do it as it's the product licence you pay for not the cd.

Problem: my hp laptop wont finish booting up. It seems like its gonna but it stops at screen that is blue and says password required. Hp Centario Xp or Linux unsure what OS its running Things I have...

The easiest fix for this is going to be reformatting the OS on the computer, from what it sounds your computer is simply well; locked. When something is locked you can fix this with a USB dongle with linux backtrack on it, and crack the password.

But that's not as easy as it sounds, so I'll stick with reformatting it would be the way to go as my answer. Sorry buddy.

Micro sd card won't work on my compaq nc6120

Not sure if you formatted it on a game system but if you did, it will have to be reformatted. Did you click "Computer" (on pc) abd explore to see if it shows up there. Try right click refresh as well.

Need to format laptop computer as I am suspecting a virus attack. I am unable to open files, and does not show drives.

You can reformat your computer by using your recovery discs. Please keep in mind that if you reformat your computer you will be unable to recover any of your files that are currently on it. If you are able to, backup everything you can. You can use an external harddrive or a flash drive to get files off if you boot from a Linux LiveCD if you have access to a working computer with a CD burner and a CD. Post back if you need any help with that.

How to reformat asus eee pc

Normally laptops come with a restore disk(s). Simply put the disk in the drive, restart the pc and boot the pc to the disk.

If it won't say (boot to disk) automatically, simply press F2 when you turn on the computer till the BIOS loads up. Then change the boot order to CD drive first.

Once it boots to the cd the process will run automatically.

If this solution has helped you, please take the time to rate me.

How to reboot my sony vaio vgn-cs26t to original factory setting

insert the first recovery disk and simply reboot your computer. instead of loading windows you will be brought to a screen where you can set up your computer to be reformatted. if the computer boots windows instead you will need to change the boot order in the bios and set the cd rom drive first. this can be done by pressing a button or button combination while the computer is booting. pay attention because you onle have a few seconds. if all else fails call sony tech support and ask them how to change your boot order

Acer TravelMate 5520 is bio-probtected and unknown password

As a general rule, registering with "Acer Standard Registration" is simply putting your computer under Acer's warranty for operation and/or repair if needed; registration almost certainly has nothing to do unlocking your password.

First, without sounding critical, if you didn't set the bio-protection, who did? Or, who had access to your computer that could have set the biometric fingerprint sensor? That person could/should be able to unlock it.

Assuming you've used the computer (and not someone else) and you're not the second register of the computer, you could try contacting Acer at their website and explain your problem and see if they can answer your question.

If the laptop is not originally yours, and the biometric sensor was set by a previous owner, that should solve your problem, having the previous owner "unlock" the system.

If the laptop is not originally yours and you don't know who the previous owner is, there's a good chance that you cannot access the informtion. You could take the laptop to a computer repair outlet that does hard drive repairs, however that is usually not cheap and you might pay for them for an evaluation and find that they cannot unlock the system.

And, there's a chance that you will not be able to reformat the disk; the protection might not allow you to reformat it. Again, you might need to bring it to a computer shop and have them reformat it (or, possibly, install a new hard drive in order to use the computer).

Try running a Windows Repair by putting in a recovery cd you got with the laptop, if not simply reformat and reload windows.
