Question about Philips GOGEAR SA6045 MP3 Player

Gogear Sa6045Says Instilzing and will not connect to my computer

Ive been trying to fix this for about a mounth or so. well ive had problems with my mp3 palyer before but the Device Manager always "fixes it", but about a mouth ago, i turned my mp3 palyer off..and it wouldnt turn back on, so i hooked it up to my computer did the "press the + button" so it would repare it. well it said it repaired it but when i went to turn it on it said" Initializing, then the gogear logo and went blank.

I have downloaded the new Device manager...that didnt work...downloaded the framware or what ever its called and tried that but im not sure if my computer downloaded it all the way, but this wont work anyway cus my computer is not connecting to my Mp3. havent tried to let the battery run out cus im afried it wont come back...cus it wont connect to my PC unless i do the + thing..but that doesnt charge it.

also i havent been able to conntact phillips and call them to see if i can get it replaced cus i dont know the Seiral number. the plastic came off the sticker..and then soon after the sticker came off. not sure im still under warinty anyway.

So do you know how to fix this? or what i can do?

    idk how it would update the player cus it doenst ever relay connect to the player justh e vol+, dosent let me update.

    hmm..hey i cant do etheir way...of formating....the way you are saying to reset it only works if the computer will connect to my computer...and thats apart of the other problem i said...it says Gogear then instilizing....so theres no way i can even select it on the my computer or windows media.



    the only way it even can tell my mp3 player is conected is if i do the vol+..but its not like i can even select the mp3 palyer after words...cus it still dosent even show that the mp3 player is conected.



    i think im just f*cked on this one lol. unless you know another way lol.

"Initializing" msg means you started to load a firmware upgrade, and it didn't go through all the way - this is one way to ruin your mp3 player permanently. The sticker has been removed from your player, so the manufacturer will not replace it ("deserialized" is the official term).

All you can do is vol+ method, then "repair," then "update". Format as a last resort. If those methods fail, it is done.

    There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

    WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

    Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
    You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
    Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

    Neither the computer nor WMP recognize that my device is connected. When disconnected from computer, power-up results in "Initializing" flashing once, "GoGear" flashing once, and device immediately shutting off. When connected to computer, these two screens flash alternately and indefinitely. I tried "Repair" using Device Manager. It said the device was repaired, but obviously it is not.

Getting music off


Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Philips GoGear SA3125 MP3 Player - won't turn on


I have the same problem right from day dot.... have found that using a pin on the reset button gets it back on every time! But the problem keeps coming back. I believe its a software bug on these units. Dont try and fix it... take it back and get something else!

Download the firmware, connect the MP3 player (which is rubbish, lets all be honest) and upgrade it.
