Question about Edirol UA-4FX External Sound System

3 Answers

Microphone connection I am completely new at all this. I am just trying to do some basic recording at home with Adobe Audition. I have the Edirol UA-4fx hooked up, microphone and headphones in proper place and it is obviously getting a signal and I can see that it IS recording its just that I cannot hear anything in my headphones. It was working fine yesterday, but then I moved everything to the other side of the room, now this happens! I have everything plugged in just where it was before! I have Windows XP.

Yes, everything is the same. All other audio comes through my headphones. Just can't hear my voice when I record.

  • jolenerox Aug 24, 2008

I've checked all my connections. Now I do hear playback in the headphones, but it is very muffled and low. I just can't understand what happened when all I did was move this stuff a few feet away!

Oh I have, I've done all that with the cables. And see, that's what I need.. is for someone to tell me which settings on the computer I need to adjust.... There's a reason that everything sounds fine except for the microphone.

  • jolenerox Aug 24, 2008

Still no progress. Everything works except I cannot hear the microphone through my headphones. It WILL record AND play back. I just can't hear it while it is recording.

Everything is plugged in correctly, otherwise I would not be getting a clear signal and be able to record. I can hear everything else in my headphones, just not the mic.

I finally figure it out for myself.

Hi,

On the XP computer settings, might it be that the microphone setting is "muted" in either/both Recording and Playback? Double click on the speaker icon in the System Tray. Verify that Volume Setting for the Microphone on both Recording and Playback is up and that the Mute is not Checked.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi-

Try reseating the cables and make sure their on the right port, right socket. chances are wire might gotten loose when you moved it. try adjusting the settings as well.

Hope this helps

Ok, just make sure on your device manager under contro; panel and systems that you are not getting an unrecognized hardware, which means there should be NO unknown device, and when you go to sounds under control panel make sure that it is set to edirol for audio or the driver for edirol UA-4x

    Hi-

Try plugging it on a different port, so that it will function as a monitor, so you mean the microphone can't be heard when recording? Your sound and audio devices setting ( audio) under control panel where is it set to? and ( voice )? should be set to your microphone that you are using or your edirol.

Edirol UA-25 not working on Mac OS X

I had the same problem. When I installed the Edirol software it prompted to 'reboot' and when it restarted all the lights on the Edirol came on.
Why don't you try it like that.
Hook up the Edirol Install the software Reboot

Mic problems: playback works great through interface, microphone isn't being detected

Check in contraol Panel under sounds and audio devices that you are using the Edirol and not an on board sound. It sounds like although the cards installed its not selected as the audio device to record from. You will also have to tel Adobce audition to select the Edirol as you audio card of choice as it to can be changed to select input from other sound devices.

Edirol UA-25

A computer has line out and that means sound out from the computer to your speakers. A line out can also be connected to a recording device or a pair of speakers with an amp built in. Line in on a computer can be used to record audio from other equipment such as a Dj on his decks to record his set. It can also record audio from mp3 players etc. Line in can be used for mic's and also you can use mic in as well. To record any audio onto your computer use line in. Line out can also used for headphones and the mic will plug into mic in so you can talk online.
