Just purchased a Specialized Allez 2011 with a 2300 Groupo But noticed that the Bottom Bracket seems to have a bit of play I checked the pedals and they seem fine so after that decided to hold both the crank arms and move them in parallel in one direction and then the other when I do this the Bottom Bracket seems to make a small noise suggesting that either the Bottom bracket is loose or the Crank arms arent tight I then decided to try and move just one of the crank arms and then the other and the noise seems to remain so I believe it is definitely the bottom bracket Is this a normal issue with the 2300 Group set and if so how do you resolve it to make it solid and eradicate the play it has Thanks in advance

It could just need snugging. A special tool IS required. Take it back to the shop that sold it to you and make THEM deal with it.

Mongoose MGX DXR crank set replacement. How to determine what to buy online?

How about just go to the source (manufacturer)?
Mongoose Contact Us They may be able to give you the required specs, and perhaps sources. That being said, from pics I pulled up it appears to use a cartridge type bottom bracket (would need to know proper spindle length) probably a "square taper" type, and you would also need to specify crank length. Pedals are standard 9/16" - whatever style you want.

Depending on how much is missing (cranks, bottom bracket and pedals?) this could end up costing you quite a bit, so I hope you paid very little for the bike, which sold for less than $200 new, worth well under $100 used in rideable condition.

Noise and rough pedaling from main crank

not knowing if this is a single speed or multispeed bike, this could be several different things and a proper analysis by a mechanic at your local bike shop is what is needed.
It could be that the chain is too tight, it could be the derailleurs are out of adjustment and the chain is skipping between gears or rubbing on the derailleurs. It could be a bottom bracket out of adjustment and the bearings are loose and making the noise. It could be a loose bottom bracket shell in an aluminum frame make creaking noises.

I have a 2001 Specialized StumpJumper FSR XC and have put a new chain wheel on 48t and I'm struggling to find a front deriailleur that fits any help please?

Clamp on front mech xt or xtr would be an option, be careful if you need bottom pull or top, cut or grind off bracket on old front mech to reinstall,as this is a spacer as well as a mounting bracket ,bit old school but older front mechs are best

Husqvarna YTH2348 hydrostatic transmission slipping

Check your tensioning bracket, when parked and engine off, lower the deck, look underneath from the left hand brake pedal side and work the brake pedal by hand take notice of the bracket with two pulleys mounted on it that move with the brake pedal being pressed and depressed, if you have vertical? up and down movement opposed to horizontal fwd and back movement your bracket mount and or bushing could be worn out.. Mine was, and after replacement it was like the day I bought it new.
Hope you his helps..

Clicking sound when pedal

Dry or bad bearings in either the right pedal or the bottom bracket (shaft between the pedals).

Crank knocks on my electra hellbilly when i pedal hard

The Electra Hellbilly has a three piece crank/bottome bracket. There are many things that can cause a knocking noise on your bike. I will give you a few places that you can check but you may need to take it to your local bike shop.
1st. Check the pedals. Take a 15 mm open end wrench or pedal wrench and makes sure the pedal are tight. Also check the pedals for any play in the bearings or tight spots. If they seem to have any issues, try a new set of pedals. Test ride.
2nd. Make sure the crankarms are tight. Use a 14mm socket wrench. You may need to remove a cover over the nut with a small flat head screwdrive. If you have a torque wrench, they should be between 25 and 35 ft lbs. Test ride.
3rd. Check the chain tightness. It should have just a small amount of play in the chain. Also check the chain for tight links or bad links. Do this by either flipping the bike, putting it in a stand or having someone hold the rear of the bike up while pedaling and watching for the chain to not flow over the cog in the like the rest of the links. If you find a tight link you will have the work it loose by hand, going back and forth with the tight link your hand and lubing it with something like tri-flow. Test Ride.
4th. The last two solutions are better off adjusted but your local bike shop. You need to check the bottom bracket and rear hub. We can start with the hub. While standing over the rear wheel, move it side to side. If you feel any play then your hub is out of adjustment. Adjusting the hub requires cone wrenches so unless you have the tools it will be less expensive to have it done. For the bottom bracket, grab one of the crankarms and move it side to side, if there is any play here then it requires adjustment. Once again it requires special bicycle specific tools so it would be less expensive just to have the repair done.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any other help. You can contact me at [email protected]. Thank you
