Your camera almost certainly has a lens error, this is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck lenses are probably the most common reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair chance of recovering use of your camera again

The fault is commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply become dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse then contact the Samsung service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed the cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose by trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault. Although the article mentions Canon a few times, the advice applies equally to all cameras with lens errors and is not model-specific.

If the link doesn't work then cut and paste the following address into your browser:-

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Good luck, I hope you manage to use this information to fix your camera, or at least are able to use the information to help decide whether to buy another camera. If you do decide that you have to throw your camera away then don't forget to remove the memory card as it can be used in other devices. Please take a moment to rate the free answer I have provided for you and any testimonial which you might wish to add is always welcome.

My samsung pl20 camera was dropped and it say the zoom did not operate normally

Pull gently back and forth on the lens while in outward position. Do this several times until you hear a click. This will put the lens back in place and should go in and out afterwards with no problems. The lens was knocked out of alignment when dropped and do the above will put it back into alignment.

CAMERA WAS DROPED. ZOOM WILL NOT WORK

Sorry, but you have either damaged the lens tube (housing) or jarred the zoom mechanism off of its track, and any DIY repair attempts will likely worsen the damage. Your lens problem will require professional repair.

Lens error 122,1,0,0

Most likely, the lens movement gears are misaligned. There's also a good chance you misaligned the lens elements by knocking the lens sideways. It is not going to work, since it cannot move the lens to focus or zoom now. Your choices are to repair or replace the camera.

Zoom error - samsung digital camera 4.0 mega pixels

Most likely the lens has been knocked out of aligment. If you look head on at the lens. The gap should be the same all the way around. You can try and "click" it back in to place yourself. Otherwise the camera is in need of repair, which based on most peoples level of experience should be left to a professional.

Samsung L730 wont extend lens and dosent turn on right

Try removing the batteries and memory card. Let the camera set for awhile. Put the batteries back in but not the memory card, restart the camera. Does it work know? If it does, turn the camera off put the memory card back in. Turn the camera on, does it work now? If it doesn't, replace the memory card.

Dear phill523:

Unfortunately the solution is to call Canon (1-800-828-4040) and send the camera into the Service Center for repair.

Hope this helps a bit.
