The least you should do is with the unit unplugged, remove the rear cover and check for an internal fuse. It should be somewhere near where the mains cable plugs in.
OK - to dismantle- how do I get to the screw behind the sliding door as this won't open as no power. I've got the speaker covers off but the door is a problem
How do I remove the back cover to get to the fuse?
I ahve the same issue, not obvious how to open

You have to carefully pry off the speaker grills. They pry out with hand pressure twards the front on the unit. Remove the large philips screws, not the ones holding the speakers. The unit separates into two halves... do not disconnect any wiring as the two halves are still wired together from the power supply. Look at the power supply at the bottom of the back part and remove the fuse. Do not pry in the middle of the fuse as it may shatter... pry One edge loose from the holder and pull it out by hand. Buy a new one of the same value usually expressed in milliamps at rated voltage. I can't give you the figure as the unit is sold in many countries with voltages (mains) from 110 to 240 VAC. Power consumption is still the same at 28 Watts.
Model HC30DB dead; fuse in plug ok. My iPhone was docked so I had to open the door. The speaker covers do pop off, just persevere. Two screws in the CD bay; to open the door I found a small gap under the door and using a small screwdriver I could gently move a whitish cog in either direction and simultaneously applying a bit of pressure to the door, it released. Once inside, I found a glass fuse within the power supply casing, and the filament inside was melted. Now to source a new one.
