Hello, I just received the Singer Simple sewing machine for my birthday less than a month ago. I filled the bobbin and threaded the upper thread fine, but am having great difficulties raising the bobbin. Every time I try to bring through the thread, it gets stuck and I have to forcibly pull the thread out or cut it and pull out the rest. I have tried different tension and rethreaded the upper thread several times, but it seems to be a problem of the workings around the bobbin. I tried to research what to do, and tried those things with no luck. It seems this is a common problem among this sewing machine. Could you please help? I am desperate to start sewing!
I'm having the same problem, brand new and I cannot raise the thread. Did you have any luck with this problem? I'm having the same problem, brand new and I cannot raise the thread. Did you have any luck with this problem?

Make sure that your needle is ALL THE WAY up in the needle clamp and the flat side of the needle is away from you.towards the back.
Review the steps for inserting a bobbin in the bobbin case and raising the thread in your user's manual; if you don't have it, you can download it free at the Singer Sewing Machine site.
If you have done these things and you still can't get the thread to come up, then your timing has gone out of synchronization, and you will need to get a technician to reset it for you. If you cannot find a sewing machine technician willing to adjust a Singer, Sears supports all brands of sewing machine.
Check your bobbin case if it looks like it has and feels like there are barbs on it they catch the thread time for a new bobbin case. I had mine less than 2 months and had to get one my machine sews and embroiders great now
try changing the needle rethread the machine top & bobbin make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case make sure the bobbin is wound correctly make sure the bobbin is not bent or damaged
Always have the presser foot up when you thead any sewing machine.
Make sure the flat side of the needle shaft is facing to the back of the machine.
Don't do anything to the bobbin tension. Set the top thread tension to what is recommended by the mfg.
Make sure the thread from the bobbin is feeding from the bobbin in the correct direction and through the correct guides.
After inserting the bobbin and threading the machine, lower the needle (hold on to the thread tail) and then raise it by turning the hand wheel by hand to pull up the bobbin thread.
Gently pull the two threads under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine before you begin to sew.
thread the machine up as normal, presser foot up,open the slide plate, push the button over to raise the winder, take the thread from the needle and wind it round a few times round the screw on the presser foot, press gently on the foot control and wind the bobbin, when you have enough thread close the slide plate and draw the threads to the back of the machine and away you go.
readjust the hook to just grab the thread loop as the needle raises it will take a few tries to get the exact setting for the hook (maybe you will see a mark on the hook shaft to show you where the hook's set screw was located before it slipped)
I'm having the same problem, brand new and I cannot raise the thread. Did you have any luck with this problem?
