I believe those drums are held in place with a series of clips on springs. If the machine has recently been moved or had a real uneven load pass throught it, those clips can pop off. You could disassemble and check those clips, or better yet, hopefully it's under warranty and a service tech can come and do it for ya.

Washer maytag front loading 4000 series assembled and runs but iwith two problems.1) residue on inner surface of door window..lint like oily paste ..gasket rubbing on inner drum?? meaning main rubber

The fault seems to be that the main seal is rubbing against and is thus producing the oily residue on the window. Now the fault seems that the drum is rubbing due to POOR ALIGNMENT or poor BEARING settings.
You need to check the PLAY on the drum and if this shakes a bit then the assembly must be reset with correct aligment and the drum must move without rubbing the rubber seals.

Are you suppose to be able to move the tub around when you open the door?

Front load washing machine? If it is it depends on what you mean by move the tub around, if it is just spinning then they do this as the drums do not lock when stopped, if you mean there is excess movement on the inner drum then you can check this by holding your hands at opposite sides of the drums just inside the door opening, locate the outer drum at the rear of the door seal and press your fingers against it and with the other hand press the inner drum in the opposite direction. If movement is felt between the 2 drums when pressed in opposite directions then the drum bearings may have failed or the spider shaft may have broken.

Load banging noise as drum goes round

Possible that the bearings have worn out or that the drum main spindle drive has gone faulty. Your observation to check is important.
Also it is important that you manually turn the drum after removing power to confirm.
Also check the suspension of the drum and the alignment.

Washing machine is banging when washing....sounds like the bearings, can i fix it?

I'm sorry to say that this is potentially very bad news. If problem you describe is the main bearing on the drum being worn out, (allowing the inner drum to "flop about").

To test your bearings, open the door of the machine and by putting a little lifting pressure on the top of the inner drum, attempt to rock the stainless steel inner drum up and down.

The outer drum is mounted on springs and shock absorbers, so it will rock about (and it should do this) but the inner drum should not move up and down in relation to the outer drum. There should be ABSOLUTELY NO PLAY between the 2 drums, even the tiniest amount will mean the bearings have failed.

If the bearings are bad enough then other symptoms will typically include:

A clonking noise as you lift and release the inner drum (this is the inner drum rattling on its bearings and/or hitting the outer drum)

You will have become aware of the spin cycle becoming far noisier recently and possibly even a grinding crunching noise when the machine spins.

The drum may feel like something is crunching or stopping you turning it when you spin it by hand with the door open.

A leak from under the machine, which you will probably be able to trace to the back of the machine, coming from the centre of the drum. This is a result of the failing bearing allowing water to escape through the seal at the rear.

This is NOT a job for the uninitiated DIY enthusiast as it will mean stripping the machine and removing the drum from the chassis, splitting it, removing pressed in bearings and then sourcing and re-fitting new bearings.

To be frank, the cost of a bearing set (if they are replaceable, and most are) will be about £20 ($30) or so. But it's a long and horrible job if you haven't done it before. I know professionals who claim they can do a bearing change in under an hour, I've done a few and it takes me about 2 hours by the time I've ripped the machine apart and reassembled it after the bearing swap. A local repairer will probably attend and swap out your defective drum for a refurbished one and then take yours away so he can refurbish it and put it back in his stock. Sadly, this will take the price up to the point where you need to question if the expense is worth it or do you get a new machine instead.

My machine bangs on a full spin.is it the drum bearing?its a hotpointwf340g.how do you replace bearing or fix this problem.

If it bangs it doesn't necessarily mean it is the bearing that is gone. It could just be a imbalance on the load inside. To check if bearings are gone open the door and at the rear of the door seal nearest the inner drum use your fingers to hold down the outer drum, will be at rear edge of seal, now use your other hand at the top pressing the inner drum edge and now press down on outer drum and up on inner drum. If bearings are gone her will be a lot of movement between the two. If no real evident movement then you can feel pretty sure it's not the bearings. Check suspension for signs of wear and check for loose weight block, also check for loose components inside the shell that may be hitting the outer drum. Could also be that the machine is unbalanced if the feet adjusters are not properly adjusted to level the machine correctly.

The drum bangs on the spin

Two possibles for this are aloose balance block or cracked drum spider. The front block is most prone to coming loose.
To check spider rotate drum little by little and pull towards you to check for movement.
Post back if further help needed.
Thankyou

Off balance, loose drum?

If your machine produces a lot of banging noises when in a permanent press final spin you may be experiencing a broken spider. It is a part which is not made from stainless steel metal, but attached to a stainless still drum (tub spin). So, when it is soaked in water all the time during a normal operation of a washer it creates a galvanic element between a stainless still drum and itself. This results in severe corrosion of the "spider" and then leads to it's breakage. To check if you have a broken "spider" open the door of the washer and try to kick your internal drum back and forward while rotating it slowly. If you will hear clicking noises (metal to metal) in some position of the drum it means that your spider is broken. The replacement of this spider will require complete disassemble of the drum. Most likely you will end up replacing this whole part
Drum assembly, spin basket Part # 131618500Another way is get just a spider part, it's doable, but may be tricky.

Loud bang during spin

Remove the top of the machine and check if the centralising spring/s is/are still attatched. Next remove back cover or tilt machine back and inspected the shock absorbers. One of the shockies could be broken or just pulled out of the guide. If springs and shockies are ok open the door and try to move the inner drum up, down and sideways. If it is very loose, then the centre bearing is worn.
