Question about Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90 35mm Point and Shoot Camera

Open Question

Minolta freedom zoom 90 display flashes

When I replace the battery (was dead) and turn on or off, the lens retracts and comes back out. The display on top keeps flashing all of the symbols. How do I reset the camera?

Open battery chamber and look to see if batteries have leaked into the camera. If you do not see signs of battery acid inside then the fault might be caused by shutter flexiboard being faulty. In either case it is not economical to repair : you will be quoted $ 200 to sort this out ( new shutter flexiboard costs $100 ! ).

Hi. As a pro photographer, I can tell you what 'macro' does on all cameras or lenses. 'Macro' focusing is for focusing on close objects, say an inch or two from the lens to a couple of feet. It is for closeup shots, say ants, or a fly, or someone's eye, raindrops on glass, etc. Try it out sitting on a patterned countertop or table or tablecloth to give you an idea, focusing far away and up close.
As far as the manual, there doesn't seem to be anything on the official site unfortunately. Good luck and have fun.

Sounds like a broken gear or linking arm. It will cost as much to fix as to replace. You now have a very nice Minolta paperweight, lol.
Those neat little film cameras are now a thing of the Ebay, LOL. Since many are dumping them for digital, they're quite available at good prices now.

If the battery is low in my Minolta freedom zoom camera, will the film be pulled back into the roll?

No. If the camera pulled the film back into the roll with a low battery, you wouldn't be able to take any pictures, rendering the film, useless. Don't worry about it, and if it REALLY bugs you, keep fresh batteries in it.

hi,
your camera needs cleaning of lens and lens shutter; because some time dust particles gose inside and effect the alignment of lens and cause camera not working.

please give me good rating if the solution works
Thanks for using FixYa.

Won't take picture though I replaced battery.

Even though it was cushioned somewhat the camera took enough damage to jam something. The flashing symbols are a generic error code it could mean the shutter, zoom, film transport, flash, or some combination of these system are not working (sorry but without tearing the camera apart I can't narrow the problem any further)
