Here is the page for the available service downloads from Dell for your computer. I would download the owners manual and go to the troubleshooting section and learn how to restore your computer if it is possible from the resource Cd.

Sometime hitting F8 during boot up brings the safe boot screen. Booting to safe then booting normally sometime fixes the problem.

It sound like the laptop is booting up and then BSOD (blue screen of death). If you press F8 on bootup and try booting in safe mode, or load a restore point (depending on your recovery options). This will help to determine the problem.

Try installing you windows disk or recovery disk you can try doing a repair ( you might have to access the bios and going into CMOS setting and changing bootup order CDROM first) but you will probably end up reloading windows (this will format the HDD and you will loose any data on it).

If this doesn't work then it probably is a hardware problem.

This unfortunately happens a lot, back up you data on to an external hard drive or make an image (various software can do this) and keep it safe for when it does happen again. Good luck!

Don't give up try booting into SAFE MODE press F8 at bootup and choose safe mode, with networking. Then at least you can troubleshoot what is wrong, it is often a bad Video driver. It may require reinstalling or updating, or some other driver that is giving you this BSOD.

try to restart your laptop into safe mode with still the projector connected. notice if your safe mode desktop appears projected as exactly as your laptop's desktop screen. if so, you only need to further configure your display settings.

Bootup problem

Your CPU is overheating.

Try and get into the BIOS and increase the fan speed & any aother fan on the system. Don't increase the temperature range, as this will damage the system.

You won't be able to sort out the software problem until the system is running within the hardware limits.

You can also run a office fan to help get the system to cool while making the changes in the BIOS.
