Cartridge My printer refuses to accept any cartridge that I put in it. I cannot print anything. At first it just refused to align the cartridges when I put in new ones. Then, suddenly, it just started giving the error sign, and on screen came up this message that said "cartridge error". I went out and bought a new cartridge, thinking that would solve the problem. It did not. What should I do? Thank you, Sandy I'm getting "Cartridge Error" message and printer won't print even when I change cartridge (even though the cartridge has ink!) Is there a way to over-ride? I've turned off and on again.

Whats your printer model?clean the catridge contacts and the print head insert it again properly then switch off and on,do a hard reset from the menu button ,and make sure your using a genuine catridge most especially if your printer is hp product.that should work

Was it a genuine brand cartridge, or no-name type? Some printers refuse to recognize anything but a genuine brand cartridge.

Alternatively you could try reseating it, but you likely already did that.

Says "Used ink tank full". Light blinks and won't print. No idea how to empty.

It sounds like you refiled an empty ink tank. The printer will refuse to accept ink cartridges that have been used and refilled. Unfortunately there is only one easy option: Buy a new cartridge. If it is a new cartridge and has not been refilled (straight out of the box), contact the supplier (where you got the cartridge from).

The printer refuses to print Checked cartridges and since then it tells me to press enter to align cartridges, flashes with busy and then returns to the align cartridge message

seems most likely to be a confused printer motherboard. remove both cartridges and then turn the printer off. remove the power into the printer for abt 15-20 minutes.restore power,fit in the cartridges and do an alignment and try again

did you do a clean cartridge and re alignment first?

try to clean BOTH copper contacts of the printer and cartridge
- and try to run again the alignment page.....
- if the issue still persist it is a hardware issue...

Ink Cartridge Alignment

On alignment sheet, do you see a line of yellow blocks?
And on next line do you see alternate block and yellow blocks?

(Without these, alignment fails)

If not, change the colour cartridge, re-print the page and repeat alignment.

i suggest you inspect the bottom, to see if anything is compromising the connection pad.

Will not recognise new ink cartridge

This is not a driver issue. You say that you have used this printer for years, if this is so then chances are the printhead has finally gone. If this is the case then not matter what cartridge you put in it wont be recognised. A new printhead is anywhere between £75-£95 and not very easy to fit. It looks like its time for a new printer.
