Overtime computers tend to slow down because of all the software we load. An app here, a browser plug in there, etc. In time you get a combination of installs which does not work well together. My solution is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall your operating system. I do this on my machine about one a year. It's a pain but the machine runs well afterwards. Be careful to back up all your data before reformatting.

How to Prevent my Computer from Freezing?

Freezing can have several causes.
A program calls the cpu in a wrong way, or the cpu is overheating, and more possibilities.
1. Overheating: after a certain time of operation it just freezes. Try cleaning the inside of the computer. Be careful for static electricity, which might kill your CPU.
Look at some instruction videos at Youtube.

2. Does it always happen when you start a certain program ?
Then the best thing to do is to install Process explorer and investigate what was happening just before it freezes:

Good luck investigating,

Windows freezing

If you had the CPU fan fan replaced, it's possible that not enough thermal compound was applied between the fan and CPU and thus it's overheating.

Program not responding

Have you considered doing a complete recovery of your operational system, I'am suggesting this because of the fact you have to many program conflicts due to device drivers that are not working properly.

Possibly a compatibility problem with software. Check your task manager for for new or unknown processes, and check your startup processes for such issues. Also scan your machine with an anti-virus and malware scanner.

Hope this helps, careful what you download, and always scan before opening.

You can start by uninstalling the program you installed before this started happening. You can also do system restore which you'll find in start>accessories>system tools.
If nogo, try disconnecting devices on the back of the computer except the keyboard, mouse, monitor and power. Turn the computer on without them. If the issue disappeared, reconnect what you unplugged one at a time until you find the culprit.

Computer Freezes when connected to internet.

The first step is to verify that you are not infected with a spyware or virus infection. The fact that you are only having freezing problems when you are connected to the internet is a sign that you may have some kind of infection.

The Geek Squad website has links to free online virus and spyware scanners that can tell you if you're infected.

If those scans come up as clean could you please post a Hijackthis log file so we can look at what processes you have running?

Sounds like you may have a bad power supply. It's a cheap fix, abd always a good upgrade. I recommend at least a 400 watt power supply.
