When i connect my mouse USB cable the light of mouse on and then off and an error of malfunction.....apears on the screec

The mouse could be defective, you could try running some test on the mouse if you still have the drivers and utilities disc (resource cd)

1. Boot from the Resource CD
2. Select System Test
3. Select Custom Test
4. Select Mouse/ pointing device
5. Run the test
6. If error code came up, it means you need to replace the mouse.
Hope this helps

How do i install a wireless mouse

Kathy, There are two items that you have. A wireless mouse and a sensor for it. The sensor is attached to the PC while the mouse stays with you. And of course you must have received a CD with the drivers in it. Insert the CD in the drive and let auto read and install the drivers. Once done, then insert the sensor and allow the Windows to detect and load the drivers. After that happens then only you would be able to use your mouse. Please follow these steps.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse. I do not have the CD

If you have Windows XP or later you can just plug the wireless receiver and let XP find it and install automatically. You may have to reboot to get it installed completely. Alternatively, if you have internet access you can go to the home site for the keyboard and mouse and download the installation.

Install mouse

most of the time, dell components (on a dell computer) will have the drivers pre-loaded on the system. follow the directions that should have come with the mouse for plugging in and synchronizing the component. Normally this involves plugging in the "connection" unit to a working USB port on your system and pressing the "sychronize" button on the unit. Make sure your mouse has good fresh batteries in it otherwise the sychronization will fail. You should get anywhere between 4 and 10 feet or range with your wireless mouse if it's operating correctly.

Also, if the drivers are NOT preloaded on the system, there should be a driver disc that came with the mouse, insert it and install the drivers for your mouse on your computer prior to following the above advice.
