How to clean screen

Howdy. I use a prepackaged wipe from the hardware store made for cleaning TV and monitor screens. you can use windex wipes, too. It is ok to use any alcohol based wipe. you can use a slightly moistened cotton cloth then dry wipe. Don't let any moisture run down screen at all. Farmerbear at FixYa

I can only use my channel up and down buttons to navigate on my remote control. Why can't I just press 2 or 50 instead of going thru 2-001, 5-001, 002, 003, 7-001, 02 etc to get from 2 to 50?

Take the remote control apart, batteries out, pop apart, (any screws? - remove them.) Clean the rubber contact pad with mild dish soap and water, pat dry. Clean the circuit board with a soft towel and windex or equivalent. Clean the push button holes in the top cover with q-tips and windex. Reassemble, batteries back in. Test...Does this help?

JVC TV won't turn off

It may be that the switch is worn out and needs to be replaced. Or your TV may have "Windex syndrome." This happens when people clean the screen by spraying on Windex and wiping it off like cleaning a window, and some of it runs down and gets on the circuit board front edge where the switches are. It can cause corrosion which leads to intermittent operation, strange behavior, or total failure of buttons. Best cure is to remove the board, inspect it, clean any corroded connections, replace the switches, and check the values of some of the small parts in that area. They can all be affected.
