Do you know where I need to look on the oven to find the ignitor?

  • dustincairns Jun 29, 2011

I'm not sure where on the oven itself I should be looking to see the ignitor.

Sounds like the oven ignitor is weak. If everything else is working it must be a bad ignitor. These are usually easy to replace and can expect to pay $70-$100 for the part. Check to see if it glows when in bake mode first. If it does then replace the ignitor. You can look at the ignitor, when not on, if it is white-ish then it needs replace or if it doesn't have a full glow, can compare to broil ignitor, then it needs replaced

Ignition problems are always caused by electrical issues. The igniter is always powered by the the electrical current which flows into the unit. Most units after cleaning either by self clean cycles or manual cleaning most often come up with ignition problems. All you need is an expert to help you take a look at the unit and most likely clean the ignition lines this will stop the malfunction. Although if the continuous sound of the ignition worries you after the unit comes on you can simply unplug the unit from its power source and the continuous clicking will stop. You can use this method pending when you get an expert to fix the unit.

My oven will not work when my burners on top are on. But when i turn the oven on when the burners on top are off it works fine. What maybe the problem here?

you need to contact a plumber and get a larger gas line. also have the plumber check the gas pressure at the stove while all burners are on.

I would like to remove the fuses that control the stove top on my Maytag oven so that i can use only the oven. ( i do not need to use the burners and do want to risk turning on the range top because i...

Hello, there no such thing as a fuse to control the top burns, if your Maytag is gas or electric.
The gas goes through a regulator to keep the range gas pressure @ 2lb. Then gas goes into aluminum manifold system for the top burners where each burners has a fuel valve in the manifold. Off of this manifold is another aluminum pipe with a little adjustment valve for the setting the flame on the oven burner in the oven.

Mama, it sound really dangerous with you stacking things on top of your kitchen range. Even when the oven is on it will vent hot oven air in the back of the top of range. Are you familiar with the Fire Triangle. Fire...needs three things, fuel, air, and ignition to burn. I hate to say it, but you have all three of these component to have fire in your home. By stacking things on top of your kitchen range.

Now, just a little word of advise here. DO NOT STACK STUFF ON or NEAR your kitchen stove, heater for you home or even around light bulbs and power cords. Ms. it seems that you are a very intelligent young lady. Just remember the FIRE-TRAIANGLE----it could possibly safe your live and home. I wish you many years in your life experience through time. Where is the pilotlight on a ge xl44 gas stove I belive it is in the door under the oven well I turned the gas on and stuck a flame down there and nothen took off is there a certian place to put the flame....

In general lets be clear. The OVEN pilot is located under the oven door at the top of the Broiler. It is a small piece of metal just before the GAS safety Valve which acts on temperature so gas won't flow unless Pilot is lit,That's the OVEN PILOT.The stove's RANGE is the top burners where you heat Pots and Pans.It has either 2 Pilot lights that connect the burners to the Flame they are under the Range Top.Newer Models use electronic ignitions no flame. Please note if you had your stove/oven disconected or Gas off when you turn it back on there will be air in the line that needs to escape before you light. This is why in NYC when Utility Co.works on steet main the MUST re-light your appliances.Be Careful with Gas.Good Luck.

Propane not getting to oven... stove top works fine..

The pilot light must be lit and stay lit before you will have any propane coming into the oven. This is a safety feature.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Oven burner pulsates

The gas regulator valve would also be my first guess. It seems to not be allowing enough gas into the system. When the top is on, only a small amount of fuel is required, and when properly mixed with the air all is well, but when you also put on the oven, the regulator won't allow enough gas into the system, so it's "burning lean". I'd get it fixed before it pulsates so bad that it actually blows out the flames and you're left with a propane smelling dangerous house.
